While recently in Coyoacan, our family had the opportunity to dine here. First, I cannot say enough about the attentive service the wait staff delivers. They genuinely seem to care about the client and the service shows. I noticed a glass sweat and some condensation on the table, and a waitress stopped by without being asked, wiped the table dry, and replaced the sweating glass. I have never seen this in any of the finest restaurants I have dined in. Just exceptional. We had several dishes to try and share, and they were almost all good. My mother-in-law is very .... particular... about her restaurants, freely offering her unrequested opinion about every dish and it nearly always is accompanied by how she would do it. Despite this, she had zero complaints or suggestions the whole evening. We unanimously did not care for the chorizo de pulpo (ground sausage with octopus)- kind of a pork-seafood umami combination that just didn't work together. We also had salbutes de carnitas which were absolutely incredible. The habanero cream sauce was to die for. We also tried several soups. The chicken soup was excellent, but served a little bit warm, and not hot - despite this, it was delicious otherwise. The other soups (tortilla and something else) were served hot. The pipian mole over cauliflower (there are proteins available, but I chose the cauliflower as we were eating other things) was exceptional. Unfortunately, no one else at my table would drink mezcal with me, and I didn't even know about their mezcal offerings until I asked for an apertif. I didn't find what I was looking for, but did see an incredible selection of mezcal. I was pleased to see they had Woodford Reserve for a bourbon, which was a great offering. If you have the opportunity to visit Coyoacan, this is a worthy dinner destination.

From the patio to the baño, the ambience was elegant, the host was prompt and welcoming, our food was quickly well prepared, and when a large party took our servers attention the management team immediately stepped in to finish coursing us out. This was my first time trying tlayuda and gourmet Mexican cuisine. My server inquired about food allergies, drink preferences, and if I found crickets palatable. I was disappointed to find they didn't have much to offer when it came to alcohol free cocktail options so I had to settle for water. Prior to our foods arrival, someone else's food arrived to our table. Shortly after the mix up was resolved our chicken broth and tortilla soup arrived. Both were deliciously well prepared, seasoned and we were given generous portions. Coursing was timed well so just as we finished our soups, tlayuda and tacos arrived. The tacos were okay, too much cheese for my liking, but the steak inside the tlayuda wasn't thinly sliced as indicated on the menu. Although I wasn't converted from my preference for Mexican street food, I highly recommend it for the Michelin level ambience and plating. However, I could have done without the Pomeranian in a bag barking at the table behind me on the patio. In Mexico it's very common to find dogs out on their own and with their people at coffee shops and restaurants, but this was the only place I experienced it as disruptive. From the city to the countryside every other dog I encountered was so quiet and well mannered I forgot they were there. If you excuse yourself to use the restroom, don't forget your phone like I did. You'll regret not capturing the rest of the restaurant as well as the captivating open air view upstairs.

Honestly quite disappointing. We couldn’t get a table at Los Danzantes while in Oaxaca so I was quite excited to find that they are affiliated with them. The menu is extensive and looks quite exciting, however execution is lacking. We ordered the mole tasting platter with the explicit instruction that my wife doesn’t eat meat, and we were served chicken with it (maybe it’s too much to expect to receive cauliflower, since they have it on the menu for the mole as main?). Then for main we ordered Tikin Xic fish and the huitlacoche mole with pork ribs. The fish was bone dry and not tasting of much (we literally just came back from Yucatán and had much better, also for similar prices), and the meat undercooked. The pulque was also disappointing, and the tortillas were not fresh. On top of everything, a large group arrived with some theatrical performers including a lady in traditional dress who proceeded to perform a story that involved a lot of screaming (the character’s sons got murdered), not three metres from our table, making it impossible to have a conversation or enjoy our meal. Surely it had a high cultural value, but it ruined our already disappointing dinner.

probably an unpopular opinion but perhaps this place gets too much hype. I found it a disappointment. first my drink: a Snake's Breath: mezcal, absinthe, dry martini (?) + lime juice. i was so excited to taste such an enticing variety of flavors but when it arrived all I could taste was the lime juice. all the subtlety of mezcal smokiness and the complexity of the absinthe ruined by a careless overdose of lime juice. for my main dish I had the Huauzontle pasilla, a very unique plant/herb stuffed with various cheeses and topped with a mole like sauce (not actually mole). sounded delicious but turned out to be like the drink: heavy handed with the sauce where neither the plant or the cheese flavor had any chance of getting through. my party also ordered the crickets cause hey, so edgy of us. fun "snack" but no one was interested enough to finish the entire cricket pizza/salad or whatever it was. so all in all, disappointed. really this should be a 3 star review, I didn't *totally* hate it, just meh but maybe my little voice will offset the positive experience you might read about...

Nice location and Oksh atmosphere .. But here is some issues: - the prices is crazy high in prices just because of the reputation as the food is a bit below average; The mole is really not that great and the chicken is very dry The appetizers are nun close to delicious and the meat comes with sides that really not good My mate asked for beef and they brought her chicken and then when we asked they said we ran out of beef ( no sorry or even discount .. full price you like it or not) The desert is really not that great neither .. the staff are nice thought but for all that there is no way it deserve the experience nor the price There is so many great places in Coyoacán and in the city to enjoy and really not to waste your time and money

Stunning restaurant, beautiful plating, spectacular food. I tried their “esquites esquineros” (corn kernels prepared with grated cheese, mayonnaise, orange marmalade and spicy Tarascan salsa), the “chile relleno“ (a poblano chili stuffed with grilled zucchini, corn kernels and epazote, served with pickled red onions over a black bean sauce), and the “enmoladas” (corn tortillas filled with chicken, bathed in black mole sauce, and drizzled with Mexican crema). Everything was delicious but I was obsessed with the chile relleno. The flavors complemented each other perfectly. Highly recommend treating yourself to a wonderful meal at Corazón de Maguey if you’re in Coyoacan.
