Terrible experience- Avoid this place!

Our visit to El Hijo de Don Toribio was extremely disappointing. The server got our order completely wrong, bringing two orders of chicken milanesa tacos instead of the beef milanesa and flautas we requested. When I pointed out the mistake in Spanish, the server claimed I never told him and said they don’t even carry beef milanesa—something he failed to mention while reading the order back to me. Instead of correcting the issue, he insisted we still had to pay for the incorrect food.

The manager came over and offered no resolution, only saying, “You have to pay” and blaming me for not noticing the menu description. The food itself was bland and lacked flavor, and the service was mediocre at best. We ended up giving the extra food to a homeless person on the street, but we’ll never return. Save your time and money—this place isn’t worth it.

Nuestra visita a El Hijo de Don Toribio fue extremadamente decepcionante. El mesero se equivocó completamente con nuestro pedido, trayendo dos órdenes de tacos de milanesa de pollo en lugar de la milanesa de res y las flautas que pedimos. Cuando señalé el error en español, el mesero afirmó que nunca se lo dije y mencionó que ni siquiera tienen milanesa de res, algo que no mencionó al leer el pedido antes de enviarlo. En lugar de corregir el error, insistió en que teníamos que pagar por la comida incorrecta.

I wanted to like this place. They offer free coffee and juice with your breakfast. I ordered the moyetes with added chicharon prensado and was greatly disappointed. The bread was flat and falling apart while the chicharron looked and tasted gummy. The juice tasted like the oranges had gone bad and the coffee was too bitter to drink. The worst part was that the servers kept spraying cleaning product in the tables and floor next to us. I understand wanting the place clean but doing it while we were trying to eat...

You have to pay for the food in advance. Eggs were supposed to be sunny-side up but ended up being completely cooked. Papaya wasn't fresh at all; it was impossible to eat. It happened the same with the orange juice, which honestly was disgusting. Beans served with tortilla chips were absolutey spoiled; they had this awful bitter smell of beans gone bad. We asked the manager to either change our order or give the money back but he said that the order was already taken and delivered and couldn't do anything...
