AMAZING meal right next to the airport!! We were starving when we landed, and took a 5-minute Uber here (you can also walk through the Camino Real hotel in the airport to get here, but we had all of our luggage and didn’t want to get lost). Give the restaurant a call if you can’t find it.
Firstly, Hector is wonderful; so friendly and will walk you through the menu. We ordered the highly-recommended garlic soup and it was like a flavor party in your mouth! The “grilled cheese” with mushrooms was fantastic, as were the chicken enchiladas in mole sauce. But the show-stopper for us was the Pechuga Huesteca — melted cheese over chicken topped with avocado and the tastiest sauce ever! It’s not listed on the English menu, but Hector recommended it on the spot. My husband proclaimed it the best dish he’s ever had in Mexico 😆
Highly, highly recommended if you’re flying...
Read moreFood was mediocre to subnormal same for the ambience but the prices were comparable to most USA cities. The menu only has about six choices on it, boring basics like hamburger, chilaquiles ham sandwich and enchiladas. In fact I think I just quoted about the whole menu. The only decoration in the place is a row of dead and mostly dead plants growing in insufficient light and pots of dust that are almost never watered. Also the bathroom has no toilet seat in the mens room, I snuck into the woman's room to poop and the stall was so tiny I barely fit and pooping was out of the question I wouldn't even have space to move my arm and wipe. I give it two stars instead of one because the teenage waiter was very nice. Im sorry to say mean things about the business of hard workingpeople, I hope they take my advice...
Read moreHector's Agavito is an absolute gem for the traveler with a layover in Mexico City. It's a legit Mexico City restaurant that is popular with both locals and flight crews who often face long layovers. Americans should fear not, Hector speaks excellent English and accepts US Dollars! Just remember that you need to bring cash, they don't take credit cards! If you want to enjoy an authentic meal and a cold Cerveza in a frosted mug with all the charm of a local hole in the wall, come here! It's just walking distance from the International Terminal, and pro tip - Google Nav will convince you it's a really long walk but theres a bridge from the terminal to the Camino Real Aeropuerto. You can cross that bridge over the traffic and it's a very short walk when you...
