Nice clean rooms, decent food. Convenient location attached to Terminal 1 so you don't have to get a taxi. Very little airport or plane noise. The noise from the hallways was more than I'm used to. It looks like there are larger than normal gaps under and around the doors which allow a lot of noise through. Management should invest in some insulating foam around the doors to see if could reduce hallway noise. My one major complaint is with the signage in the airport for how to get to the hotel. I speak Spanish and I still had to ask for directions 3 times because it is not intuitive at all. If you've never been to this airport, As you exit terminal 1 secure area you will need head right (east I believe) and go up to the 2nd floor. Continue walking down until you almost reach the end (probably 5-10 min walk) There are green signs with pictures of stick figures lying in beds to somewhat guide you. But there are three different hotels, so it's slightly confusing which is which and no signs for the specific hotels themselves (Hilton could really help their travelers here and probably boost their business by installing their own signs). Once you get almost to the end you'll come to a McDonalds on your right. Turn right right after it. You'll walk a short distance and then be able to see the big Hilton sign on the wall. You'll take the escalators up one level and then wonder if you went the wrong way because there is no entrance or signs directing you to an entrance (really Hilton?). Right next to the top of the escalator is an elevator (with no Hilton signs!) that you need to go in and up to get to the entrance.
Another note, if you fly in and are gated in terminal 2 you will need to take the train shuttle over to terminal 1. The signage for that was terrible as well (not blaming Hilton this time). You will come out of customs on the bottom floor. Head right (west I believe) and up th escalator. From the escalator continue in that same direction to the far west end. Then turn right and head down a little ways. To the left is the train shuttle station. When you exit at terminal 1 you'll take the sky bridge over the road and then turn left to head toward the...
Read moreWe had a 7 am flight so I decided on this property. The reviews can be daunting but I thought it was a good stay and will stay again. I think the hotel tries it best but hampered by local airport infrastructure.
The good. Location being at Terminal 1. Lobby was spacious and had large windows for a good view of airport operation. As a Diamond member, I got upgraded to a junior suite. It was spacious and modern with a king bed and pull out sofa. Bath had a nice rainfall shower. Plenty of food choices as an airport hotel. Bar/restaurant seems to be open late but we didn'tuse it. Excellent sound proofing as roar of planes taking off were muted. Subdued hallway lighting is actually helpful as an airport hotel. One can actually base here while in CDMX as it is only 25 min to the historic district, with traffic. 10 to 15 $ via Uber.
The bad. Service was.hit and miss. Some staff spoke good English, others did not. I asked for extra bedding as our daughter was with us. Didn't get it and I had to go to the front desk myself. Contrary to their website, there is no Executive lounge.
There was a faint sewer smell that my wife noticed, which I did not. To be fair, most everywhere in CDMX, this is a citywide issue that one can smell a faint sewer smell.
Signage is lacking. This is probably an airport issue not allowing signs, than a hotel issue. Entering terminal 1, have Uber stop at gate 7. Then walk towards gate 8. Near Starbucks there are escalators to go up. Then open sesame: like a beaming beacon, a big Hilton sign reveals itself.
Only 1 of 2 elevators work. Not sure if these are owned by Hilton or the airport. But Hilton takes the blame regardless.
Terminal 2 is a bit of a hike. Hotel shuttle is an option but only runs on the top of the hour, like hourly. So we went via Airtrain. Allow yourself some time. From the hotel, go past Gate 6, escalators up (not working). Train runs are not often, every 7 minutes. Then journey takes another 7 or 8 minutes. Airport TSA style security line is slow and inefficient.
Will I stay again? Definite yes due to...
Read morethis hotel was horrible. I am considering writing a very bad review on google to warn people. First of all, when i checked in I requested a quiet room. I was put in a room so close to the bar that I could literally hear everyone's conversations. I immediately went to the front desk to ask to change rooms, they were very rude and said it was too late to change because the hotel was sold out. The clerk that checked me in said that he had no control over which room I received, and that when the computer selected a room for me, he didn't look to see which room it was. So when I had asked for a quiet room and he assured me that my room would be quiet...I am not sure what to think.
Also, I thought that staying at the airport hilton would be convenient. It was Not at all convenient. It was very difficult to get to the hotel with all my luggage because the elevator to the hotel is so far from the entrance to the airport. It was extremely confusing. Then the lovely (very nice) shuttle driver took me to terminal 2 the next day for internation flights, he said that depending on traffic it can take 10 minutes up to an hour to get from Terminal 8 to terminal 2.
The food was horrible! I ordered pancakes that arrived with a cooked exterior but the minute I tried to spread butter on them it was clear that they were completely raw inside as the batter came oozing out. I ordered a quesadilla and it was just a a corn tortilla with a a small clump of half melting cheese (cold in the middle) and a tiny smear of guacamole.
The internet was the worst hotel internet I have experienced in all my years of travel. I was not able to use zoom and had to complete business meetings on the phone using my cell service.
Lastly, there were no toiletries. The room had large dispensing bottles for lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. All of them were completely empty. It was quite bizarre. And the towels were gray, old and stained.
I would NEVER recommend that anyone stay at this horrible hilton. I was quite surprised at...
