Deb's husband posting: We just had our first disappointing food experience in over three weeks in Mexico City, in the location just across from the Museo de San Carlos. The waiters were inattentive even though we speak Spanish and we ordered two of the more expensive plates. My food arrived first and it was cold. I sent it back to be heated and they weren't clever enough to take the pork joint off and heat it separately, so it was still only lukewarm in the middle, and soon cold again. My chicken breast was dry. My wife's food took another five minutes after mine to arrive, and her chicken, shrimp and potatoes were also just lukewarm, barely warmer than her salad. We had to wave for attention to get knives and spoons. No-one ever asked us how we were doing and how the meal was, and we were ignored when we finished until we finally went to the cash register ourselves to pay the bill. No tip, obviously. The staff seemed to treat us with disdain and the cooks appeared to be incompetent. I'm sure my meal was pre-made and left sitting around until I got there to ask for it, and I'm still burping from it two hours after I got home. I hope I don't have food...

Classic Mexican Dining with a Touch of Elegance

This restaurant delivers a refined take on classic Mexican cuisine in a classy yet relaxed atmosphere. From the moment you step in, the inviting ambiance and tasteful decor set the tone for a pleasant dining experience.

The food is a standout—authentic Mexican dishes crafted with care and fresh ingredients. Each plate is beautifully presented, with bold flavors that respect tradition while adding a modern twist. The freshly made pastries are a delightful bonus, clearly prepared on-site and perfect as a treat with coffee or as a sweet finish to your meal.

Service is exceptional—prompt, professional, and attentive. The staff are clearly well-trained and go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and well taken care of.

Located in a convenient area, it’s easily accessible and ideal for both locals and visitors. With fair prices for the quality and experience provided, this restaurant is a great choice for anyone craving authentic flavors in a more upscale setting. Highly...

They forgot my order. I got there at 9:50 PM and was promptly told that they'd shut the kitchen at 10:30PM, and that I'd have to also pay by that time. I then ordered a bowl from the menu, waited for 40 minutes, and nothing. As I was walking out of the place, the cashier looked at me as if she wanted to charge me, when I said I had nothing to pay cause my order was never served. She and the waiter next to her, the one who took my order BTW, acted surprised and asked if I still wanted them to make my food. That didn't even make sense since it was already 22:30, time they allegedly shut the kitchen and start cleaning up. How would they start making my food at that moment? I left the restaurant and had a hard time finding another place to eat as it was later and most places were already closed. I'm a tourist in the city, so having to walk around late at night, on my own, trying to find something to eat because the Abuelos' waiter couldn't care...

What a cute little place that has "abuelos" and "abuelas" to label the bathroom doors. They also just had photos of grandparents everywhere which was quite interesting. Waiters and waitresses very friendly and organized, I think they were a little persistent in offering us desserts, though we didn't really want any. But I think they were just meaning well--like grandparents offering their grandchildren food, ya know? I ordered some flautas, chocolate de agua, and a yogurt fruit cup. The flautas were pretty good and so was the chocolate, but the fruit cup was a little warm which was worrisome. It's okay though, I survived. Otherwise, the environment was very homey and I'd recommend it!

First time visiting. I ordered the item shown on the left (that is a photo of the menu). They served me the plate on the right. The meat doesn't look anywhere near as good as it looks on the photo. In the photo is juicy shredded meat stewed with vegetables. They brought me cold diced rubbery meat and a portion a quarter the size of what is pictured in the menu. The chilaquiles was way under dressed and missing verde salsa and garnish and they decided to swamp out the red sauce for cold bland refried beans. The cheese inside the quesadilla was cold and chalky, not melted and gooey. The plate was nearly inedible.
