Deb's husband posting: We just had our first disappointing food experience in over three weeks in Mexico City, in the location just across from the Museo de San Carlos. The waiters were inattentive even though we speak Spanish and we ordered two of the more expensive plates. My food arrived first and it was cold. I sent it back to be heated and they weren't clever enough to take the pork joint off and heat it separately, so it was still only lukewarm in the middle, and soon cold again. My chicken breast was dry. My wife's food took another five minutes after mine to arrive, and her chicken, shrimp and potatoes were also just lukewarm, barely warmer than her salad. We had to wave for attention to get knives and spoons. No-one ever asked us how we were doing and how the meal was, and we were ignored when we finished until we finally went to the cash register ourselves to pay the bill. No tip, obviously. The staff seemed to treat us with disdain and the cooks appeared to be incompetent. I'm sure my meal was pre-made and left sitting around until I got there to ask for it, and I'm still burping from it two hours after I got home. I hope I don't have food...

Read moreThey forgot my order. I got there at 9:50 PM and was promptly told that they'd shut the kitchen at 10:30PM, and that I'd have to also pay by that time. I then ordered a bowl from the menu, waited for 40 minutes, and nothing. As I was walking out of the place, the cashier looked at me as if she wanted to charge me, when I said I had nothing to pay cause my order was never served. She and the waiter next to her, the one who took my order BTW, acted surprised and asked if I still wanted them to make my food. That didn't even make sense since it was already 22:30, time they allegedly shut the kitchen and start cleaning up. How would they start making my food at that moment? I left the restaurant and had a hard time finding another place to eat as it was later and most places were already closed. I'm a tourist in the city, so having to walk around late at night, on my own, trying to find something to eat because the Abuelos' waiter couldn't care...
