My husband and I landed in Mexico City at 3 am for our anniversary, arriving at Sofitel at 4:30 am. On August 20, he emailed corporate about early check-in and an airport taxi. The taxi got an immediate reply—$2,600 pesos (~$150 USD) for a 15-minute ride that costs $5–$10 on Uber. The check-in question? Silence, until he chased through the app the day before our trip, when it was too late to adjust. The answer: ~$500 for a full night, ~$250 if waiting until 6 am, or wait until 3 pm. For a four-night anniversary stay, they could have shown goodwill and let us in if a room was free. By simple prorating ($25/hour), a 4:30 am arrival should have cost ~$187. At the desk, one staff member almost handed us a key, until another—who clearly knew the email exchange—stopped him and demanded payment. Too exhausted to argue, we tried resting near the bell desk but were woken up and told to “sit up,” as lying down wasn’t allowed. No rest area offered, just cold rules. When we asked about canceling, the front desk said they couldn’t authorize a refund because of “policy” and that the manager was “sleeping onsite until 9 am.” By 8:40, we’d had enough and left. We took a $5 Uber to the Intercontinental, where they warmly welcomed us and checked us in at no extra charge, explaining their simple policy: if a room is open, guests are welcome. That’s hospitality. Sofitel showed the opposite—quick to upsell a wildly overpriced taxi, slow and dismissive when it came to basic guest comfort. We will never return and will share this experience widely. PS: Photo shows where we were attemping to rest, and hotel staff rudely told us to "sit up."

We just came back from a wonderful break at the Sofitel Reforma. We really did not want to leave. There are a lot of positives. Great location! You can walk around the neighborhood, and it is accessible to the historical center, the Chapultepec park and museums, and popular shopping areas. We enjoyed the heated saltwater pool with its great views. But what truly made our trip so special was the team at the Club Millésime: Natalia, María, Laura, Santiago, and Dylan. They made us feel so welcomed any time of the day for meals, snacks, and beverages. While my daughter loved the pizza night, I most enjoyed the local flavors available on 'Mexican night' or the regular options like chilaquiles al pastor or jicama en tajín. We also want to say that Pablo with guest relations made a great impression with ideas for fun things for our daughter to do. The housekeeping is usually good but may forget a few things (e.g., towels, tissues), but just ask for what you need. One piece of advice for guests is that the elevator system is not fast, so plan ahead for getting out the door, and do not order an Uber until you are really on the ground.

My family and I are so happy we chose the Sofital Mexico City Hotel for our Christmas stay! Our rooms were beautifully appointed, and it was a nice surprise when the staff delivered Christmas cookies and frosting for the kids to decorate on our first night. The pool was a hit with our kids, and an indoor pool. The workout room was also impressive, with some really cool interactive weight machines that we hadn't seen before. The best part of our stay though had to be the tour guide/driver we coordinated with the hotel. Every day they greeted us with incredible knowledge and expertise in Mexican history and helped shape our itinerary to get the most out of exploring Mexico City and its ancient ruins. We cannot express how much this meant to us - an experience that will never be forgotten! In conclusion, if you want a magical stay in Mexico City then look no further than the Sofital Mexico City Hotel! From their luxurious rooms to their incredible tour guides, you'll have a trip that you'll talk about for years!

This was our first stay in Mexico City. Not knowing the layout of the city can be a bit daunting when choosing a hotel. Research was conducted and we decided to stay at the Sofitel Mexico City for six nights. All queries were informatively and promptly answered via email by Alejandro Velazquez (Reservations Ambassador). We certainly made the right hotel choice!||SUMMARY: Fabulous hotel. Wonderful location, accommodation with excellent service.||BACKGROUND: My wife and I are in our mid 50s and have travelled extensively to Mexico over the years (we stopped counting after 30). We have enjoyed all inclusive resorts in Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa, Manzanillo, Los Cabos and the Mayan Riviera. This was our first stay in a major Mexican city.||LOCATION: The hotel is very conveniently located on the Paseo de la Reforma. It is a relatively short drive from the airport and provides an excellent starting point for the various attractions throughout Mexico City. ||ARRIVAL & FRONT DESK: We arrived later in the evening and were warmly greeted by staff at the ground level concierge desk and were escorted by Diego via the elevator, to the check in desk which was on the 14th. The lobby is nicely appointed and the lobby area has several individual reception desks. This is a nice set up as it provides a personal and relaxed check-in experience. Check-in was very efficient and friendly. Diego took care of our luggage, escorted us to our room and explained the various room and hotel amenities. ||ROOM: We had a Superior Room, 1 king size bed, Angel of Independence skyline view. I highly recommend this room and it provides an impressive view (see photos). We were welcomed to our room by a very thoughtful card arrangement (see photo). Noise from outside hallway and adjoining rooms was minimal to non-existent. Air conditioning was easy to understand, efficient and not too noisy.||POOL: There is a nice pool area (see photo), however, we did not use it as we were busy exploring the city. It does look like a great area to unwind and have a swim. It is in an enclosed area so if there are several people or children it can get a bit loud (echos).||RESTAURANT: The breakfast with our room booking is provided at Balta located on the 12th floor. An extensive buffet is provided along with a la carte hot options from a menu. It was an excellent breakfast, well staffed with extremely pleasant and helpful people.||FOOD: Food assessment is very subjective. We found the breakfast food to be excellent overall. We had no issues with the taste, quality or quantity of the food. There is plenty of selection to please most people.||SERVICE: The level of service we experienced was simply outstanding. We did not experience any situations where the service level was not top notch, five star. Every single staff member made a concerted attempt to say “hola” and help you if you required any assistance.||OTHER: The only real negative I could find was what I felt were overly dark elevators. People going out for the day exploring or out for dinner would likely want one last check in the mirror before exiting the hotel. This was virtually impossible with the very dim lighting in all elevators. A very minor point indeed.||SUMMARY: This is a fantastic hotel that is highlighted by a convenient location, some top notch amenities, good food, but most importantly, wonderful staff that truly put forth a genuine effort to ensure our stay was a memorable one. |Highly Recommended.||I cannot recognize every individual, however, I would like to acknowledge the following, in no particular order:||Alejandro (reservations ambassador), Dariana, Jethro, Victor, Edher, Diego, Vanessa, Eduardo (Guest Services Team/Concierge).|Always a pleasure to see...

Five star service. No property is perfect, but Sofitel does luxury consistently well.

Arrival: I called the hotel to inquire about surprising my spouse with a romantic reception because we’re traveling on a mini-moon. To my delight I was connected with a guest relations manager, Jany, who not only made the process simple but the execution was spectacular. They were also able to arrange airport pickup and we were met by a valet at the hotel to help guide with our bags and instructed us on room operation- so many buttons in this fancy hotel but all worth it.

Room: Through the Luxury Hotel Collection program we were upgraded to a king suite with a gorgeous city view, electric shades, private toilet, spa shower, free standing bathtub, double vanity, two closets, luggage storage, desk and mini fridge. There is free wifi and a TV with chromcast as an option but it didn’t stream very well. The room is also equipped with several lighting options, so regardless of your room style, you’re sure to experience comfort.

Restaurants: There are several restaurants and bars on property to enjoy. You can spend an entire day in the hotel and never have the same meal, or drink, twice. The service is different for each location, but there is always a great attention to detail and fresh ingredients.

Spa: We booked two massages and requested a couples room, but never imagined the suite we received. Upon arriving at the spa we did a little paperwork then we’re assigned a Valet who did a phenomenal job touring us and providing refreshments. The couples suite came with a city view, whirlpool tub, changing room and restroom with robes. While we waited for our service to begin, we were invited to enjoy these cool hot cold split whirlpools. The cold bath felt like refrigerated lake water with a fresh clean smell and invigorating tingling that followed you out. The warm pool was akin to a heated pool but wasn’t super warm like a jacuzzi. They also offered use of a steam room and special shower with jets head to toe. The massages were relaxing and there was no rush to dress and leave the room once the service concluded. They used fragrant natural oils to enhance the experience and light lotions on the body. We did NOT want to leave.

Hotel Pool: the pool is wide but not deep. The water sits under 5’ high and has a horizon view of greater Mexico City. The pool offers two sets of water jets and two fountains powered by the push of a button. They have locker rooms just off the pool and a small gym next door. Down the hall on the same floor is their...

I had a brief stay at Sofitel Mexico City Reforma to try this new property which opened in 2019. I was quite impressed with my stay, this is a solid hotel which could possibly be a higher level brand than Sofitel and I can easily recommend it.

I booked the entry level room and was upgraded as Diamond guest to a Junior Suite. The size of this room type seems to vary quite a bit, according to the hotel’s website they range from 42 to 68 sqm and judging from the floor plan my guess is that I had one of the larger variety, on a high floor with great views to boot. I loved the bathroom which had L’Occitane products and a large window in the joint bathtub and shower area, and since there are no high-rise buildings nearby, there were no privacy issues whatsoever. There was also a very large walk-in closet, plenty of space in the bedroom area with a long couch on the entire length of the room, and more space behind the bed with a working desk and a small dining table. Since this is a new and modern hotel there were also some tech features such as electric blinds and shears, Netflix directly available on the TV, etc. The only negative I could find to this room is that it might have been better without the carpet, or at least less of it in the living / bedroom areas. There was a welcome gift waiting for me in the room which was a bowl of berries along with a bottle of local red wine.

The Club Millesime Lounge was closed due to covid and breakfast was offered in the restaurant instead. There was a self-serve buffet plus I was allowed one item from the a la carte menu. The selection of fruits was very impressive, in fact among the best I have seen anywhere in the world, for example they had mangoes, many types of berries, figs, and other local exotic fruits. The buffet also had smoked salmon, bakeries, and sweets.

Overall I was quite satisfied by what Sofitel had to offer: nice spacious and modern rooms, excellent Accor loyalty recognition with the junior suite upgrade, an above average breakfast, and attractive facilities with great city views. The only thing missing was having the opportunity to try the Club Millesime, for that I will...
