La Valentina — Restaurant in Mexico City

We Loved it! Everything was delicious and our waitress, Silvia, was very kind, accommodating, and helpful. We ordered 3 chilaquiles (chicken/morita sauce, eggs and chorizo/morita sauce, and steak/green sauce) 1 huarache (steak) and 1 breakfast plate with eggs and plantain. Silvia recommended we try a bowl of pork (cochinita pleve) and brought a stack of fresh corn tortillas for our family (of 5) to try, also delicious. For drinks we had Oaxaca style horchata, tamarind water, coffee, Mango pulque, and red wine pulque. Very generous portions for the drinks and all very tasty. Silvia also brought us 5 tasting of the traditional pulque which is an acquired taste but would recommend trying because it's a traditional Mexican drink made from Agave.

There is indoor and outdoor seating, we ate outdoors and there was plenty of shade comfortable seating. Service was prompt and our food came out very quickly too.

Overall our experience at La Valentina was exceptional, anytime I return to Mexico City I'd absolutely love to come back to La Valentina for more. ¡Nos encantó! Todo estaba delicioso y nuestra mesera, Silvia, fue muy amable y servicial. Pedimos 3 chilaquiles (pollo/salsa morita, huevos y chorizo/salsa morita y bistec/salsa verde) 1 huarache (a rachera) y 1 plato de desayuno con huevos y plátano macho. Silvia nos recomendó un plato de cochinita pleve y nos trajo tortillas de maíz frescas para probar nuestra familia (de 5 personas), también muy delicioso. Para las bebidas tomamos horchata estilo Oaxaca, agua de tamarindo, café, pulque de mango y pulque de vino tinto. Las porciones son muy generosas de bebidas y todo muy rico. Silvia también nos trajo 5 pruebas del pulque tradicional, que es un gusto adquirido pero recomeiendo probarlo porque es una bebida tradicional mexicana hecha del agave.

Hay asientos en el interior y al aire libre, comimos al aire libre y había mucha sombra y asientos cómodos. El servicio fue rápido y nuestra comida salió muy rápido también.

I felt like I was at my grandma's and she wouldn't stop bringing me amazing food. I got the huevos dovorciados with fruit and honey. The salsa Verde is one of the best I've ever had. They brought me complimentary chilaquiles and a shot of their own amazing wine. Great place. Will definitely try it again in this short stay in Mexico City

This is my third time visiting Mexico City, and I can easily say that this is one of the very best meals I’ve had. Their menu has so much variety of entrees that you do not find in the USA. Get the horchata that has the pecans and melon in it. Also try the salsa morita. Just wow!! All the food was so insanely good! And Silvia was extremely friendly, accommodating, and sweet to us.
