Beware of the hidden Fees!
We dined at Le Bon Bistro on a recommendation of trustworthy friends. We arrived and sat at a lovely table outside!
Our waiter presented us with menus and the wine list. We selected our dishes and ordered a bottle of Casa Madero Cabernet Sauvignon.
We enjoyed our meal and had lovely service.
We asked for the bill and after reviewing it my husband noticed a charge for the bottle of wine and a second charge which we didn’t understand what it was for so called the waiter over to explain. He told us it was for a corkage fee! Corkage fee we said but we didn’t bring our own wine we purchased it from your wine list. He brought over a second wine list that we never saw until that moment and showed us a different price for the wine. The wine we ordered was 580 pesos and they wanted to charge us another 320 pesos saying again a corkage fee. Not sure what they were trying to pull here but we were both feeling very disappointed and extremely confused after enjoying such a lovely meal.
Corkage fee to us in when you bring your own bottle to the restaurant and they charge you to open it and for the use of the stem ware. This wasn’t the case as we ordered a bottle off the restaurants wine list!
I think our waiter was also feeling very uncomfortable and he said it’s the owners rules. Not wanting us to feel any more uncomfortable than we already did he removed the charge.
Not a very good impression and I highly doubt we will ever return to Le Bon Bistro or...
Read moreSetting was intimate, waiters were very friendly and knowledgeable. A bit cold but no bother we walked to it so dressed warm. The bread and butter was a great start, the appetizers we got were rabbit patte and escargot. Both were very good. Entrees were the confit duck, and filet mignon with mushroom sauce, both done very well and a bit rich sauce but still well balanced and finished everything great flavors. Dessert we got the creme brulee and a cappuccino. The creme brulee was perfect couldnt have been better, and the cappucino was one of the best weve had during our almost 3 months in Mexico. Will be back anytime were back in Mexico City, highly recommended when looking...
Read moreCan’t say enough good things about Le Bon! We lived next door for a few weeks and finally were able to join them for dinner recently. The ambiance is beautiful, the food is delicious (honestly better than most French places I’ve been in the US), and the service is excellent. The waitstaff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and attended to, and are generally just extremely kind people. The owner’s wife is French, which explains the great and authentic menu. Prices are also very reasonable considering the choices. Alfredo, one of the waiters, is an absolute sweetheart and we will miss seeing his smiling face every day. Check this place out! A hidden gem...
