Highly recommended hotel, we stay here every time we visit Mexico City. First big plus, we showed up before check in and they let us in because a room was free. Always irks me when hotels make you wait till 2/3 even if they have room. This is a courtesy and if the rooms are free but BIG Plus for me. I love the interior hallways, a very unique look. I stayed there for a week and it was a pleasant stay. I like that the hotel is off of a street where cars can pick you up and drop you off. Some hotels have a pedestrian only streets and its a hassle. The rooms were clean and their cleaning service is really good. We were a party of 4 so we always get the larger rooms and those have windows, my parents have gotten the small ones without windows. They said its more cramped but they enjoyed the stay. They have a terrace with a nice view, we took our dinner up there a couple nights. They don't serve food after breakfast but they leave it open for you to go up there. The breakfast was good but nothing beats street food taste/price. My parents liked to go downstairs to buy from vendors selling food in the early morning. The hotel is very well located, Bellas Artes, Zocalo etc is walking distance. All the streets around are heavily tourist areas so there are cops everywhere. My parents returned to the hotel a week later and they said the staff was extremely helpful. My dad lost his phone and they let him use the phone downstairs to help retrieve it. They had an early flight and had a wake up up call at 3:30 and a staff went up to the room personally to wake him up. We have tried Hotel Ritz down the street but my family preferred Principal. There's also an Oxxo right across the street which came in handy. There were also bathrooms available in the first floor and top floor which is handy if you are with a larger party. They have these huge lockers to hold your luggage before check in and they get locked in. I have left plenty of valuables out in the open in my room and never...

We really liked this hotel even though remodeling was ongoing. The workers came in at 5am and made themselves known right away after a short talk with the manager they were very respectful and were quiet they next several days that we were there!||This is an awesome location! A short cab ride to the Museums, the cathedrals, the shopping centers, the restaurants and the night life. ||We had a family room 3 beds in a large room and 1 queen size bed in a connecting room. Only 1 bathroom but two sinks. We were able to manage getting ready every morning and evening! No fridge, microwave or coffee pot. But the nearby restaurants were open early enough for full breakfast and coffee not to mention most of the bakeries were open some even 24 hours! Again the key is location!||We found a karaoke bar and had a great time singing and Imbibing tequila and beers. The DJ really got into the singing and we had a great time!! There was even a band playing in a side street that played Chuck Berry songs for us as we are from St Louis!! ||Again location of this hotel is key!! The room is comfortable and very clean. The room came with breakfast in the upstairs top floor overlooking Calle Bolívar. Breakfast was great and very filling. You will not be...

The hotel is a beautiful place and in a very good location. My friends and I stayed for 2 nights. The first night we didn’t notice any bed bugs until 2am we woke up feeling them jumping all over, but only on one of the beds . We had rashes all over our bodies. The air conditioning was not working well so we had to open the windows because it was so hot. There was also bunch of mosquitos because we had to leave the window open. We did not sleep throughout the night trying to kill the mosquitoes and the bed bugs.We requested to move rooms that morning and offered us a room change a few hours later. Which kind of ruined the trip because some us had to stay in and sleep throughout the day since we had no sleep until 12pm next day when they offered the new room. The new room looked clean and we checked the bed and it seemed fine, but the other 2 friends who did not have bed bugs in the other room woke up with two new bites. I did not want to write this review because the place is beautiful and the staff was so kind and helpful but unfortunately i do think it’s something that needs to be taken into...

This is a renovated old building right in the Centro- good location on a busy commercial street. Good value for the price, especially for a short stay. The renovation/ interior architecture is interesting and well done, but most rooms do not have a window, only a transom over the old fashioned double door. This probably results in a quieter sleep experience. We didn't use the room TV. There's an elevator to access rooms. The bathroom in the king bed room was modern and clean with a good shower and nice hot water. The king room cost a bit more than a standard room, but it felt a little small. The king bed was comfortable, with good pillows and linens; and there was an efficient and quiet heater/air conditioner mounted over the bed. A small walk- in closet held a small safe; guests need to leave a deposit with the front desk to use it. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, nor did we use the roof terrace. Front desk staff was efficient but rather aloof. I would stay here again.

Front desk was professional, affordable(about $10 for the room I got that I reserved on expedia), and they have lockers with locks for you to store stuff while you go explore. I was also able to pay with my Wells Fargo Credit card. They have a list by the front desk that tells you there taxi rates to certain places such as the airport and the central bus station north where I needed to go to catch a bus to the pyramid of the sun. The list is good because a driver told me it was $65 American from the airport to Hotel Principal when the list says it's about $5 haha. So I made his day haha. I'll try to upload a picture of that list. I also wouldn't recommend driving here in Mexico City with a rental unless you have driven in a similar environment. Tons of restaurants near the hotel, shopping stores, haircut places, gym, banks with ATM to get back Mexican money ,etc As soon as you walk out to your right about a block down there is a BBVA to your left
