Sonora Grill Prime — Restaurant in Mexico City

If I could give a negative star to the service at this place, I would. Worst service I’ve seen in my 45 years living. First, we had to asked for the menu after 10 minutes of being seated. We were a party of two and they only brought one menu. My friend was asking for a charger for her phone and she had to ask about 7 different employees in order to get one. The waiter was insisting for us to order more food, we were sharing and apparently what we had ordered was not enough. After being served, nobody asked us how we were doing. They didn’t even filled our glasses with water. The food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. I will never come back on my next visit to CDMX.

Éramos dos personas y solo trajeron un menú. Mi amiga estaba pidiendo un cargador para su teléfono y le tuvo que preguntar como a 7 empleados diferentes para obtener uno. El camarero insistía para que pidiéramos más comida, estábamos compartiendo y al parecer no le era suficiente lo que habíamos pedido. Después de ser atendidos, nadie nos preguntó cómo estábamos. Ni siquiera llenaron nuestros vasos con agua. La comida estaba bien, nada fuera de lo normal. Nunca volveré en mi próxima...

Today was my birthday in Mexico. My girlfriend and I were shopping all day, and exhausted. We decided to celebrate my birthday and after driving to the 1st restaurant that was closed we called in a last min attempt to find an alternate plan since we were already dressed up in a suit & dress + uber black 30 min each way. I called the restaurant at 10:30p (open until 1am on Google). What was supposed to be a wonderful night transformed into a total disaster. Restaurant couldn't accommodate 2 people to celebrate a birthday. I don't even eat meat, but was desperate to not having tonight be a total disaster. Employee could care less about birthday, and they closed 1.5 hrs later (still says open online as I leave the review back in my hotel). Ruined my night + (Very Crappy to Say The Least)). Don't your time there are so many exceptional restaurants in CDMX! Word of advise from duel international business owner to business owner. Hire people who value above exceptional/above par service, and will treat your restaurant as if their own not those who do the bare minimum to get home quickly. If they don't want my money then I assume you don't either. I will be happy to spend it elsewhere. The food and service were ok. Not great but not bad either. The only dish I really liked was a soup with bone marrow that was pretty good. But the reason I give 3 stars only is for a sketchy service. My Mexican friend told me to be careful while ordering because they always try to overcharge you by selling you the most expensive stuff. And surely they tried. With the meat they couldn’t do it because I quickly said I knew what I wanted. But then they offered me wine, and the waiter immediately went for the +20$ a glass wines. But that’s not the bad part. The problem is that I ordered one of their Argentinian house wines (8/9$ a glass. Which I felt appropriate). They had 2 different reds and I said any of the two worked. The waiter left with a weird face. Then the sommelier came and just said “here’s your wine sir” but I was already alert so I checked it and…as I was anticipating they brought a wine I didn’t ordered. A 16$ a glass wine. I said I had ordered another wine and they said they didn’t have it. But they never told me when they brought it. They just tried to upsell me this without me noticing. Unfortunately this hustle made me feel uncomfortable and they seem to always do it (as part of their business model) as my friend had warned me. I wouldn’t...
