The famous Tacos de Armando from Hermosillo, Sonora, has made its way to Mexico City. The restaurant here is larger and more spacious than its counterpart in Hermosillo. The tacos de carne asada are nearly identical, which is great for anyone familiar with these tacos from Northern Mexico (and misses them once in a while). The prices are a lot higher compared to the Sonora location, with each Taco de Armando costing $150 pesos, which seems a bit too much and excessive. Although the Hermosillo location is only at $100, the $50 pesos premium is a bit much.
Service is a bit different here. While our main server was great when taking our orders, the other staff were more of a nuisance. Various servers hovered around, taking away napkins immediately after they were used, like vultures. One server even tried to clear my plate before I was done with my taco, which felt very rude. Despite the service issues, the tacos remain top-notch and are one of the best options for carne asada tacos in Mexico City. The salsa bar is always a highlight, and the guacamole is one of my favorites. If you can’t make it to Northern Mexico, Tacos de Armando will satisfy your carne asada cravings—just keep an eye on...
