I'm an American visiting Mexico City for the first time, so take this with a grain of salt—but Taquería Orinoco was the worst food I've had since arriving in this country a week ago.

There is a taco stand on nearly every corner of this city. Each one sells tacos bursting with flavor; tacos that reach your mouth within a minute of your order; tacos topped with fresh onion and cilantro, served sizzling hot. I find it impossible to comprehend why, in a city like this one, anyone would settle for the bland, lukewarm, sad-looking arrangements of meat and tortilla on offer at Taquería Orinoco—much less wait outside the restaurant for the chance to order one!

These tacos are aggressively mediocre, so why pay twice the price you would at the stand? For the rainbow of side sauces they provide, all of which you will try in a futile attempt to add some modicum of flavor to your limp, grey taco de res? For the pucks of fried potato and pile of sautéed onion that crowd your tray, somehow even less enticing than the tacos themselves? Or for the privilege of eating next to every other gringo who found this place on a Tripadvisor list of "quick bites in Mexico City"?

Do yourself a favor and skip this place. You're in one of the great food cities of the world—you'll regret having wasted...

I had the pleasure of dining at Taquería Orinoco in Mexico City, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch, especially from our server, Paty, who made sure every detail was taken care of with a warm smile and impeccable attention.

As for the food, I was blown away. The specialty tacos, the Norteño and Pirata, were absolutely delicious—full of rich flavors and perfectly balanced fillings. Each bite was a flavor explosion that made it clear the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. I also tried a single Res taco, and it was just as good, with tender beef that melted in my mouth and seasoned to perfection.

To finish off the meal, I indulged in their Buñuelos for dessert. Crispy, sweet, and wonderfully satisfying, they were the perfect end to an already exceptional meal.

Overall, the combination of amazing food and exceptional service from Paty made this visit one to remember. Highly recommend Taquería Orinoco for anyone in Mexico City craving authentic, high-quality tacos and a great...

We decided to try out this place after walking past two days in a row and seeing long queues outside, so thought it must be pretty good. We got in line, and waited about 45 minutes until we got a table. We had plenty of time to check the menu while waiting, although, as vegetarians, the options were very limited, only avocado tacos and quesadillas, plus the roast potatoes. We ordered one of each, and were a bit shocked by the tacos, they were completely plain, with just 3 or 4 thin slices of avocado, and a bit of fried onions on the side. The potatoes were really bad, very dry and overcooked, with no flavour. Thankfully the salsas were very flavoursome so we could add some spice to the food. When we left, we saw everyone having the meat tacos, covered in delicious looking tomatoes and onions and cilantro, so it felt unfair that they don't put the same effort into the vegetarian dishes, but I realise we are not their target clientele. Anyway, it was an experience to try out this place in CDMX as it seemed to be a...

Taquería Orinoco was my first stop after landing in Mexico City, and it could not have been more perfect. The tacos were incredibly flavorful, hearty, and satisfying—every bite packed with a punch. We tried a variety: the Costra Trompo, Costra Res, and Costra Chicharrón, plus the spicy Orinoco Costra and two of their huge specials—the Norteña and Campechana. The meats were perfectly seasoned and the textures on point—from the juicy trompo pork to the crispy chicharrón. Don’t sleep on the grilled cheese tostadas—next level. I’d heard people compare Orinoco to the Mexican equivalent of In-N-Out—“delicious but Americanized”—but honestly? It still felt authentic and was absolutely worth the hype. The variety of salsas and toppings were fresh and vibrant, and the vibe was lively yet relaxed. Plus, the service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend this spot whether it’s your first meal or your tenth—Orinoco nails the balance of comfort food and local flavor.

That’s one of the best Taquerías in town, definitely worth visiting and waiting in line. The line goes pretty fast, 10-20 minutes waiting and they have around 15 tables in total in and out. Simple menu, 3 types of protein , some specialties, and options of desserts. The host gives you, while waiting the menu and letting you inside only when there is a place to sit so efficiently everything moves. Ordering is simple, get a number and find a table. In less than 7 minutes served 5 different salsa from sour to sweet, salty to spicy all flavors mix great separately and together. The tacos are great, the meat is warm, delicious and juicy and full of flavor without nothing needs to add to it. The potatoes are great addition, although need some extra flavor there. This place definitely worth another biding when I’ll be back in town. And to finish a nice banana ice cream dessert was absolutely delicious. Overall great experience, great service and great food.
