Stayed 4 nights in a Junior room. Check in was fairly simple, although they did not explain that I wouldn't be able to enter the hotel after like 9PM...more on this below.||Location is absolutely great. Right on Paseo de La Reforma near the Angel of Independence. I had a great view of it from my balcony. Ideal location close to Bus and Metro stops.||Room is fine at first glance, but in clear need of repairs/updates. Missing tile in bathroom and rotting/flaking wood on windows. Walls are thin, could hear neighbors room easily. Room is fairly small, but adequate enough for a single person or a couple for a few days. Would not recommend for more than 2 people. Included soap, shampoo, hair dryer, face towel and two bath towels (although very thin and rough and clearly have been bleached too many times and need to be replaced already). One of the towels I had to use for the bathroom floor as there is NO SHOWER DOOR. Only half of the shower has a glass wall and the other half is open making the water splash all over the floor in front of the toilet. Also, they did not include hair conditioner nor body wash. How do you not include body wash..?||Staff is nice, but definitely lack some professionalism. I was frustrated at TWICE having my key card not work to get into my room. It was deprogrammed even though my reservation listed 4 nights. Had to have them reactivate it each time, one of which was very annoying as I had an Uber waiting for me and just needed to get my wallet and instead had to make it wait while they reactivated the card.||One of the most absolutely INSANE parts of my whole stay was not being able to get back in to the hotel itself after a night out. When you are on vacation hotels know that you are most likely going to go out at night and return late, right? Not this one, or at least they have a terrible system of how guests can get back in after they close the main doors. I arrived back at my hotel around midnight to encounter the gates closed and NO WAY OF GETTING IN and the main hotel phone NOT BEING ANSWERED. WTF. Also, it was raining, of course. After calling the main phone over and over and over and over again and shaking the damn fence because I had no idea wtf else to do, a group of guys, also guests, just so happened to arrive and pointed out to me the button to push (not mentioned at all during check in) so it can ring them. A very sleepy employee in regular dress finally let us in. I was told that usually a door person is there all night and it was just that first night that they weren't there, which was not the case. NO door person was present at all any of the 4 nights. The next morning, obviously concerned, I asked the front desk what to do if I get locked out again? Just press the button to wake them? They gave me a what's app number to TEXT when needing to get in...WTF this is pretty dumb to me. Had to download what's app, create an account, etc. To which the very next night, I was once again locked out, texted the what's app number given and NO RESPONSE. After several minutes I am agitated and press the button over and over and over again and finally a sleepy employee walks down and lets me in. This was ridiculous to me.||Don't let the "free breakfast" entice you at all to book. It was the worst options of cold chilaquiles, badly burned eggs, old fruit with flies flying around it, runny yogurt and some dry cereal options along with coffee and orange juice. Only had coffee everyday and a little bit go yogurt with oats because the rest was nasty. When you are there, the employees will scold you if you try to serve yourself any of the hot food (I'm sure for safety reasons so that's understandable), but then why every other time that they are not there during the breakfast hours, it was fine to self serve hot food..? I had to ask the same employee three separate times for a disposable coffee cup since they just didn't replace them or only had dirty cups available.||I only had the room cleaned twice and each time the bedding had stains. The second time it was little red stains...||There was a constant, very annoying beeping coming from the outlet next to bed. Took a video of it to which staff had no explanation for it and it was unbearable trying to sleep. Had to buy earplugs after night 1.||Sleeping was near to impossible. Bars close at 4:00AM in CMDX and the hotel is right next to a bar. The music will keep you up all night. I ended up just going onto the balcony and play on my phone since I couldn't sleep until they closed. Also, Paseo de La Reforma is one of the busiest.most popular streets in the city, so it has its share of protests. Two out of the 4 mornings had a protest start at 7AM. Its was loud and forced you awake.||Would consider staying here again ONLY because of the location and ONLY for like one or...

I'll start with the good things.
Rooms : The rooms are somewhat spacious, not very big but with enough room for a short or medium stay. They are clean and room service is good. Bed is comfortable and bed sheets were clean.
Location : This is a GREAT location, you can walk through Reforma and visit some good places to eat or some historic landmarks, there's even a Ecobici station in front of the hotel. On the first floor you have a nice cafeteria with good options and a Starbucks just next to it. A convenience store a couple of meters from it too.
Now the bad things.....
NOISE : It is EXTREMELY noisy! They had the good idea of putting noise canceling windows but right now there's a CONSTRUCTION JUST IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL, so no rest is guaranteed, even at 5 am they start making noise. Now... If you're investing on soundproof windows, INVEST ON soundproof doors!!! Floors 1 and 2 are super noisy! Since there's an open space between the rooms, the lobby and the Cafe on the first floor, you can actually listen a lot of noise coming from there. So if you're tired and you're not so good with sleeping with sounds, trust me, yoh will not rest well.
OH and do Google if there's going to be protests, soccer game celebrations, etc, because that would mean that it will be noisy, and if you're taking ubers, location will be completely blocked or jammed by a complete standstill with traffic.
INTERNET : Well, it's very disappointing that a hotel nowadays offers a very, very and internet service, even cheaper hotels have this good speed and connection internet. But not here. Doors block the signal and even if you do have full signal, the internet service is SLOW. So, if you're planning on using this hotel and you work remotely, or you want to do video calls, just DON'T.
Overall this has been a not so great experience. We have decided not to reserve this place again when we return...
Read moreOn Priceline, MX Reforma advertised a "suite with terrace," which is what I chose. When we arrived, it did not come with a terrace. It was a very small room with a queen-sized bed. This "bait and switch" tactic was very disappointing.
We tried to make the new room work, but it's impossible to sleep there due to all the overwhelming noises. The restaurant downstairs moves all of the tables and chairs after 9 pm and then again early in the morning. It's a horrible sound. On top of that, there's a beep that sounds like a smoke detector with a dying battery. It beeps about every 60 seconds 24/7. We had to sleep with ear plugs, but it still drove us crazy. Finally, on Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights, there is a very loud club that literally shares a wall with MX Reforma. They play loud, thumping music from 9 pm until 3 am.
Other miscellaneous inconveniences include the very thin, crunchy plastic pillows...the 2-person elevator at the entrance (alarming for people with claustrophobia and it broke)...the desk clerks who shrug and assure you there's nothing they can do...
We ended up leaving after 3 sleepless nights. We had booked through Priceline for 8 nights, and it was nonrefundable. It has been worth it to pay for two hotels for the rest of our stay in Mexico City, so we don't have to deal with MX Reforma. (My husband and I are both teachers, so we don't have extra money to throw away like this.)
MX Reforma staff assured us that they know about the problems, but they did nothing to try compensate us or try to address the issues.
Finally, MX Reforma sent us an email today to review our stay. You guessed it! The link to the review is broken.
If you need a lovely, considerate, quiet hotel, I highly recommend Hotel Casa Gonzalez. We wish we had found it first. It's...
