Veganuisima seemed very promising, the vibe was cool and the food looked beautiful. However, my husband and I found the food to be completely tasteless. We both had the falafel Burro and an order of hummus with satan chicharron. The falafel wrap was a generous size but the falafels didn't taste like chickpeas, cilantro or sesame seeds, there was no tahini or garlic and no hummus included inside the wrap with a very limited selection of salsa to choose from to even make it taste of anything but just spicy (with the salsa). The hummus looked gourmet but was wierd, it also tasted nothing like chickpeas, had no salt, lemon juice or GARLIC! ?? And the satan chicharron was also entirely tasteless and may as well have been crispy fried cardboard. We are vegans and we LOVE vegan food! We also love cooking and were so sad to be dissapointed by putting our faith in a restaurant that seemed so promising on the outset, especially because we were so hungry. On top of all of the dissapointment it was really expensive! Conclusion: food looks lovely but is not made with love. Dear chef, please taste your food before serving and maybe do some research on authentic ingredients for falafel and hummus. Don't be lazy at the expense of others peoples taste buds por favor. Also definitely not worth the money. Veganuisima, please don't take this personally, but perhaps take this as constructive criticism. You have the looks, now all you need is some flavour! Do better and maybe one day change...
Read moreWe’ve been here twice. First time we ended up here because it was quit late and everything els was closed. We ordered stuffed avocado and enchiladas. I could taste right away that the setas they used were expired and not well to eat anymore. Even though they tried to cover that with to many flavours. My boyfriend had stomach issues that same evening and end up on the toilet. Also there were loudly, smoking people there. Which bothered us a lot. As a non smoker you don’t want to taste cigarettes while eating. Second time we went here, is JUST because it’s so near to the house. We were in the hurry. So we decided to give an other try. We order again enchiladas. Burger and potatoes. Setas 🍄 were very dry. And not because they were cooked to long but because they were old. And they had something that cracked as sand between your teeths. Burger was burned on one side. Cutting out the burned piece and almost nothing was left from the patty. Potatoes were very good! But it’s so expensive. A mini portion of potatoes is 90 pesos. And they call it a BIG portion. In short we paid around 500 pesos for a very low quality of food.
We pay as much in Plantasia and Na thali. Where the ingredients are high level. So is the food and decent portions and you sit in a beautiful restaurant.
It’s too bad because it’s the most nearest vegan place to our home. But we prefer to skip than come back here. The waiter, young man with tattoos is very attentive, friendly and...
Read moreI see a lot of positive reviews about the burritos here and I can't understand them. I only saw one other review like mine so I hope this helps others with the same expectation as me.
The burritos had raw shredded carrot and cabbage which were very strange fillings for a burrito. When I saw the burrito included carrots and cabbage, I was surprised but I assumed they would be cooked and seasoned at least (nope). I ordered two different burritos to go for traveling and neither protein really had seasoning either. The vegan cheese was pretty good, but the tang was not balanced well at all by the bland fillings and the salsa that came with them had a nice smokiness but did not do enough to round out the flavors.
I know burritos are a northern Mexico/American thing, but it's disappointing that one of the more expensive places (and highly rated) I ate at in CDMX would be so off the mark because there are many good vegan places here. Most of these restaurants did not serve burritos though which may have been my sign that CDMX is not the place to get burritos. Honestly, compared to Mexican owned places in the states, unfortunately, I have to say these were probably the worst burritos...
