Great service, but the food, although decent, misses the mark and left us disappointed. Voraz, one of the trendiest restaurants in the Roma Sur neighborhood, offers Mexican fusion in what used to be a former mechanic's shop. Despite the challenge of securing reservations, we decided to take a chance and go as walk-ins. It took a while to get acknowledged by the staff at the front, but we were eventually offered a seat at the bar. The bar seating was very tight and uncomfortable, and it felt like a bit of a hassle to sit there. Shortly after, we were given a table with the condition to vacate it within an hour due to a reservation—not a bad compromise. We were promptly served and given a detailed explanation of the restaurant’s concept, along with some recommendations from the server. However, I felt rushed as the server seemed eager to get our order quickly. We ended up choosing the alitas brutas (a recommendation from the server) and the pollo pibil. For drinks, we opted for an Aperol Spritz and a piña colada with a unique twist—it was well balanced with coconut cream. The wings were served with a side of house-made ranch, which was delightful. The wings themselves had a nice kick without being overpowering, but unfortunately, they were undercooked, with pink/red meat near the bone and even some oozing blood. Sadly, this issue went beyond just ruining the experience—the uncooked wings made me sick shortly after leaving the restaurant. The main course, which resembled the wings without the buffalo sauce, was well presented but portioned quite small for sharing. We were given corn and flour tortillas alongside a tiny portion of salad. The meal provided just enough for two small tacos. While the chicken with the pibil glaze was tasty, and the flour tortillas were delicious, the overall serving size left much to be desired, especially for two people. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lively, with a full house and a noticeable wait outside. While the service was generally good, our particular server, who started off helpful, became increasingly pushy as our visit progressed, which took away from the experience. The wings ($215) had great sauces, but the undercooked meat and resulting sickness were major drawbacks. The pollo pibil ($575) felt like a rip-off—small portions with an absurd price for what was essentially four glazed wings served with a minuscule “salad.” The drinks were decent, but nothing extraordinary, though the prices were reasonable. Voraz, despite being the trendiest spot at the moment, lacks the uniqueness and value that should set it apart. I struggled to see what makes this place special—it's just another pricey restaurant with small portions, a pretentious vibe, and, unfortunately, food safety concerns.

Voraz by Nano, the most talented chef, is a revelation poised to transform the entire neighborhood. Roma Sur, already renowned for its delightful culinary offerings, now boasts a new gem that stands out with its cool, delicious, and luxurious appeal. The ambiance evokes the charm of esteemed establishments like Maximo and Martinez, while the staff bring expertise from celebrated venues such as Pujol. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by what appears to be a mechanic's workstation, a unique touch that seamlessly blends the atmosphere of a car workshop with the sophistication of a luxury restaurant. This intriguing juxtaposition sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The attentive staff will escort you to your table, where you will be offered an exquisite selection of cocktails, featuring both classic favorites and modern interpretations like margaritas and piña coladas. The culinary journey at Voraz begins with tantalizing beans and salads, progressing to main courses that epitomize culinary fulfillment. The staff's extensive knowledge of the menu ensured our dietary requirements (Celiac, Gluten-Free) were meticulously catered to. Among the standout dishes, the smoked and caramelized chicken was an absolute favorite, serving as a nostalgic homage to the former Polla Bruto restaurant that once occupied this space. Concluding our meal with a smooth mezcal, we were left thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. The crowd was chic, adding to the vibrant yet refined atmosphere. Voraz is set to undoubtedly reshape the culinary landscape of Roma Sur, and we will certainly become regular patrons of this exceptional establishment.

I texted to make a reservation and was informed that they didn't have space for the whole week, but they suggested that I might find seating in the bar area. I arrived early to check it out, and luckily, we found space at the end of the bar. They were able to set up an outdoor table for us, which was fantastic. The food was amazing! A must-try dish is the ceviche as an appetizer, along with the Chamorro de Puerco and the Arrachera. The Chamorro is quite large, making it perfect for sharing and turning into tacos. The Arrachera was incredibly tender. For dessert, the chocolate cake was delightful; the crumbles on top really made it stand out! As for drinks, the carajillo was all I needed for the night, but I have to say that all the drinks were delicious.

I recently visited this restaurant in Mexico City with some friends who thought it would be a nice place for dinner. It has great reviews and seems to be trending right now, but honestly, I think it’s overrated. When we arrived, the place was less than half full, but we still had to wait 30 minutes before someone finally attended us. I was already seated and had even asked for a drink, but the waiter took forever just to bring the menu. I ordered a mineral water, thinking it would be quick, but I had to ask twice before I got it. While reading the menu, I noticed they copied the style from Pujol (a 3-Michelin-star restaurant), which felt a bit fake. We ordered two entrees: the broccoli and the chicken wings. The broccoli tasted like it was burned in garlic, and the chicken wings had too much sauce, which tasted like bottled barbecue. I ordered the tuna tostada, but it was disappointing. It had more mayo than tuna, and the tostada was so soft it broke before I could take a bite. My friends each ordered a taco, but only one arrived. After waiting a long time, we decided to cancel the others—especially since the dessert came before the waiter even realized we hadn’t received the tacos. The only good part was the nut pie—it was tasty, but honestly, I can get something similar at Costco for a better price. The worst part was asking for the bill. It took so long I almost fell asleep at the table, and we had to ask multiple times. When the bill finally came, the hostess or maybe the manager brought it and was super rude. I tried to pay with my card using contactless, but she almost threw the card back at me, asking for another one. Turns out the problem was their terminal. I asked her politely to try again, and it worked. Overall, I think this place is way too hyped. I could’ve eaten better (and cheaper) at the taco stand two...

I was excited to come back to Voraz after first visiting in September 2024. We visited for our anniversary and doing so was a huge regret. Our waiter was horrible. We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation, we ordered drinks and were enjoying our conversation. The waiter then comes up and after failing to introduced himself, informs us that the kitchen is closing and that we have to place our orders quickly. We barely had time to review the menus before he rushed us into taking our orders. All we could decide on was two small apps and the steak because of his pressure. We weren’t offered the wine list (we wanted to get a bottle) and had planned to share multiple plates from each offering. Also, why would the kitchen close 40 minutes before what was documented online?

We then asked if we could arrange a special decoration for our postre to which we were met with attitude again. He then “gifted” us two glasses of champagne which felt like an afterthought. He did not ask us if we would like them nor did he tell us what we were drinking or that they were a curtesy. He just slapped the glasses on the table and poured them and walked away. We were confused and had to inquire because we thought they had been sent to the wrong table.

Ultimately, I was embarrassed by the service and experience. Having previously suggested this restaurant to many and choosing it for a night of celebration. They should adjust the last reservation times available for booking on Open Table. And his horrible service ruined what was supposed to be our very special evening.

We dine out regularly in cdmx and are involved in the industry and were left shocked at the...
