*WARNING!!!!! DO NOT EAT HERE!! The worst restaurant experience of my entire life!!!
I’ve been a professional chef and restaurant owner for 15 years and I’m very forgiving, especially when it’s a holiday and things can get crazy. However, this restaurant displayed nothing but the most blatant disregard for its customers’ satisfaction that I’ve ever seen. I’ve never experienced such absolutely horrendous service. The service captain, (I didn’t catch his name because he never spent more than 30 seconds at our table even though he was our waiter), should be embarrassed and ashamed of how poorly he manages this restaurant and at his misogynistic treatment of its customers. The food was awful. The staff was combative and rude. It was just the absolute worst.
We sat at 8:00 and they did not take our order until 9:15. The food did not arrive until 10:00. We ordered appetizers that never came. When they finally starting to bring plates out (after 1 hour of waiting) they brought them out at complete random, one by one. Serving entrees to some and salads to others. Only then did he asked if we still wanted our appetizers.
We asked for bread or chips or something while we were waiting for our food because we were very hungry and the “captain” responded, “Ma’am, this is a proper restaurant. We don’t serve free food.” Ummmm, excuse me? A proper restaurant? You keep using that word. It does not mean what you think it means… a proper restaurant serves food and beverages in a timely, pleasant manner, at the absolute bare minimum.
-We ordered 4 salads and they were pathetic. 3 pieces of romaine lettuce with 4 croutons on top, no dressing. -The wine they poured was from the bottom of the bottle. -The entrees were all cold and dry and awful. -The meat was WHITE and we couldn’t even eat it because we didn’t want to get sick. -The salmon was like a brick it was so dry. -The enchiladas had literally 1 oz of chicken spread across 4 tortillas.
It was a JOKE.
We were so upset, we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. We asked for the bill while we were still eating, knowing it would take forever. I asked 4 different people for the bill. After it didn’t come I stood at the bar area for 25 minutes, staring at the “captain”. I asked for the 3rd time what the problem was and when hr literally shooed me away, I lost my patience and told him if we didn’t get the bill in 2 minutes we would be walking out. He immediately brought the bill at the threat of not paying (apparently that’s what it takes to have your existence acknowledged in this ridiculous place). When he brought it, it was wrong. He tried to charge us for entrées that we didn’t even order and soups and appetizers that we never got. When I told him that the bill was incorrect, he argued with me for 15 minutes. I finally lost my temper and walked out. I felt wrong leaving without paying, because that is something I have never even come close to in my life, so I returned. Insisted he correct the bill, paid , and left.
At absolutely no point in the evening did this man or anyone on the entire staff offer an apology or compensation of any kind for our extreme inconvenience. The level of entitlement was just shocking.
Please, especially if you’re a foreigner, don’t eat here. Sure, it’s a decent view of the church but there are plenty of other places in Centro that will not treat you like trash or try to...
Read moreSo I've been going to this place for several years I would say about once a year for the last 10 to 15 years. I'm an American chef & sommelier that traveled to tequila for a tasting and decided to end up in Morelia to see the downtown and see the fireworks. I was only there for one evening. I got to the restaurant made reservations about 12 in the afternoon for reservations at 8: 30 to see the light show and fireworks show later that evening. Not only was the reservation was not honored but the rude staff pointed to another table far from view and far from the table that I had reserved. The table was given to a group of people who already had another table with the exact same view which they seem to have preference for. They looked like the snobby traditional elite. I guess my big issue with this was that I rudely was told to get a table before they're all gone. I've been in the industry for over 20 years I would never think of handling a situation this way. I told the rude staff that the handling of the situation could have been better with better staff and left.
We ended up going to the restaurant in the hotel soledad. Better looking hotel, better staff, better menu, live music and perfect ambience. We had dinner and a couple bottles of wine and laughed at the situation at The azotea restaurant with the manager. All turned out for the better.
I do have to say that this restaurant at points in the past handled just about everything much better than it has now. Most definitely will never go back as I found a...
Read moreI recently hit up this spot with my wife and a couple of buddies, and man, were we let down. The food? Just okay, and the portions? Ridiculously tiny. My wife got this strudel with vanilla ice cream that was so small, it was almost laughable.
But the real kicker? I found a long black hair in my pasta. The waiter saw it when I pulled it out of my mouth, apologized, and said he'd take it off our bill. Except, when the bill showed up, the pasta was still on there. When we called him on it, he tried to say the hair must've been ours because all their staff wear hair nets, and refused to knock the 200 pesos off the dish. Our bill was 4,000 pesos, and he made a big deal over 200.
I even asked him if 200 pesos was worth a bad review and a smaller tip. He didn't answer, so here I am. Seriously, skip this place. You can get way better food for the same price elsewhere without being...
