Whenever I visit Monterrey I like to eat in La Reynita once a week. They have good food, usually good service and fair price. It always puzzled me why they ask my name when they find me a table and because I don´t like to share this info normally I give names of personages translated into Spanish. Once I was Gregorio Casa (Gregory House) and another time I was António Fuerte (Tony Stark). Today I decided to say my name and I got a nice surprise. The lady asked me where I was from and when she acknowledged that I live in an European country she asked if I would like to try their secret plate based on the concept of Europe meets Mexico. I asked what it was and she said that they call it "Pastor Mix". In this moment the image of a Kebab Mix with Pastor meat came very fast to my mind. This was a genius idea. Simple but smart. Dress up like a tourist, tell them you are Jean Pierre from France and order the Pastor mix. Thumbs up if you tried and...
Read moreMediocre service and overpriced food that wasn’t worth it. We arrived and were “greeted” by two arrogant yet indifferent hostesses. When we sat down, our server had the same attitude, which set the tone for the rest of our visit.
We ordered the trompo and steak tacos with tuétano, and despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, it took quite a long time to get our food. When the tacos finally arrived, they were beyond greasy. While the portion size was decent (four tacos), eating just one and a half was enough to make me not want any more. The steak tacos were slightly better, but the grease was still overwhelming.
The service remained indifferent, slow, and just overall mediocre. For the price we paid, it was way too overpriced, and given the quality, I would have much rather eaten somewhere else—cheaper, better quality, and with service that didn’t make me feel like the restaurant was doing me a favor...

I ordered a very good crunchy and to close the night an excellent gin and tonic.
The attention 10/10 very attentive and made suggestions that...
