Read moreVisited one of my fave restaurants in San Pedro again and am quite disappointed. As usual the food and the service were excellent hence Sonora was on my fave list. Have brought groups of my customers to Sonora Grille in the past. Sorry but no more. I believe I was the victim of a fraud known as "bait and switch". As usual all was going well and I was enjoying myself. After a tequila and an appetizer I tried to order a glass of wine to go with dinner. Sonora has an extensive wine list. To say that some of the wines are expensive would be an understatement. I attempted to order one of the reasonably priced Chilean wines offered by the glass for about $11.50 USD. Of course that wine was not available even though it is on the menu. Menu is electronic accessed thru a QR Code like many restaurants use today so there is no excuse that it is out of date. Sommelier came over with his suggestion for a replacement. A blend from the Guadalupe Valley which I did not like. So we tried to find a suitable substitute. I suggested the wines of Spain as they had several on the menu(most not offered by the glass) and there are many wines from Spain that I like. So thru this process the cost of the glass of wine was inflated to $33 USD. A 3X increase in price, in my opinion, deserves a mention before pouring. Sommelier spoke little English and me little Spanish but I am sure price was never mentioned. If I had heard the price I would not have ordered it. Caveat emptor! Look on the bright side. They could have charged me $200 for a glass of wine..what could I have done about it? Be careful out there! Sonora sorry to see you go. I will not be back,...
Read moreI definitely recommend Sonora Prime restaurant. Although the selection of food that I ordered was not that wide, as we say in Mexico "para muestra, un botón (the proof is in the pudding)".
To start, I ordered the house rosé wine and it did not disappoint me at all, and I also ordered Wood-fired Marrow (250 g). The atmosphere is music with medium volume, television screens inside and they have a terrace.
For the main course, I ordered Brisket for tacos (2 PEOPLE 400 g) and it comes with a giant guacamole, tortillas, and cilantro and onion upon request. And as sides, I ordered an esquite (just corn with mayonnaise, nothing extraordinary), and some delicious French fries with truffle oil.
I would definitely go back to this restaurant again and judging by what I ordered I have no doubt that the cuts of meat are extraordinary. In addition, the staff is incredible. Especially Jesús Leija, the waiter...
