I dined with Andy, my partner who's review is below. Good points, the tarka dhal was super tasty, for the price of the food (way more expensive for mains than our very good local Indian restaurants in London) you would expect bathroom use to be free but there was no quibble when I asked for 5 pesos for this (had no change). Thali is only available till 5pm which was not clear so if you want this go before 5. However as an Indian person who frequently eats, cooks and goes out for Indian food I feel I have some authority to comment on the food itself. The response to Andy's review below about us cleaning our plates, we wanted a break from Mexican food and we were hungry so we ate the food. We chose not to complain and I guess rightly so as you have not acknowledged the main issue which was cold chicken curry. Fact is you were completely unphased that the chicken curry (cooked in a strange sort of tomato-y sauce better suited to pasta) was cold and we had to ask you to sort this. Rather than apologise and offer a new batch of curry, you just took it away and warmed it in microwave rendering the chicken tough and tasteless. I didn't eat the chicken but Andy being polite and hungry did. I decided to enjoy the dhal with the paddles you called naan. In fact they were more like a crunchy memelita which was not what we wanted that night. Had you been observant (positive bias means you noticed only cleaned plates) you would have noticed all our serviettes were used to soak the drenched oily papad and bhajis (which were super salty) because they were so oily. So,the fact that you have responded to his review as you have and took no ownership of the frankly awful chicken curry situation made us feel there was no value in complaining to you and you were more interested in your phones and didn't even notice we had paid and left. Very tasty Indian food in Oaxaca!!!! No need to lower your expectations because you're craving Indian while in Oaxaca. As good as most places I've enjoyed in the USA and definitely NOT a "Mexican interpretation" of Indian food. These guys/gals know what they're doing.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was spiced as we requested (i.e. hotter than normal....what we call medium+) and portions and prices were more than fair. Loved the samosas so much we went back a second time and each ordered our own 2pc order so we didn't have to make due with only one each (i.e. this more reflects the quality than size; they are a large but oh so yummy). Added to our must-go list for Oaxaca dining.

In short, if you're a foodie visiting Oaxaca, go ahead and take in as much as you can handle of the world-famous local cuisine. But if you need a change of pace, or like us, just LOVE Indian food regardless of the competing options, Red Indian Chilli is worth a visit. I'm giving a 2 Star for several reasons. I paid 265 pesos for Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan Bread.... I thought that for 150 pesos it was at least coming with the rice...Nope, it was an extra 65 pesos and 35 more for the Naan Bread. Very small portion of chicken and the Naan Bread was soggy like it was put in a micro wave at the equivalent price of 13$ US in Mexico...It's very pricey and subpar food.The butter chicken was good without being fantastic. If it had been top notch, I would have given 4 Star. On top of that, two guys were looking at their cellphone and while the music was playing you could hear their notifications ringing though the speaker system, not very professional!! The waiter didn't even offer something to drink.... After my complain, he offer to replace everything but I was not going to waste and overeat for that reason.
