I'm going to start by giving some advice to those reading these reviews. If you dig a little you will see that most people giving bad reviews show a history of giving bad reviews, so I would disregard them totally. They are just people who seemingly like to complain.
That said, we were very surprised and satisfied with the food, atmosphere, and service at Tr3s 3istro, especially with it being located on the main square which would generally indicate "tourist quality food". However, that was not the case.
We had a dinner reservation for later in the evening at another restaurant in town, but by late afternoon we needed something to hold us over. With the sky looking grim we popped in without much consideration or expectations, and our experience ended up being delightful.
The view of the square is great and the menu has something for everyone. Our choices were at different ends of the spectrum, beef tongue in almond mole and a three-cheese smash burger. Both turned out to be perfectly cooked and full of flavor (they also make potato chips in-house which were totally unexpected and incredible).
Overall, don't listen to the negative reviews from the pathological complainers and give this...
Read moreSo disappointed as this was my second time here. The last time was in November and I decided to return as I had such a fab meal and great service. Unfortunately this time, we had asked for a table overlooking the Zócalo but they were all taken. We were seated a row away, then saw that a couple was leaving. We asked if we could have the table as they were cleaning and was advised that it was held for someone else. Another table became available which they gave us. I ordered the prawns as a starter and sea bass for my main. My friend was not hungry so just had a drink. The prawns and sea bass came at the same time. When ordering, the server asked how I'd like my fish done. I'd answered well done before I realised that that was a weird question for fish. The prawns and the seabass were really salty and the seabass was rubbery and overcooked. I couldn't eat the sea bass ñ and took the prawns as a takeaway as the salad balanced out the saltiness. They charged me half the price of the sea bass and the total including 2 softdrinks came to 434.00 pesos. Such an unsatisfying...
Read moreTres Bistro was one of the highlights of my stay in Oaxaca, Mexico. Located right in the middle of the old square, this wonderful restaurant offers a bird's eye view of the daily activities and excitement of the square, all from the upper level balcony. The food is EXCELLENT,...freshly prepared and served with a touch of class. I especially appreciated the presentation of meals on fine china, white tablecloths, and an assortment of wine glasses. Oaxaca can be hot and dusty at times, but the Tres Bistro keeps its air conditioner at a very cool, comfortable setting. And service?....another 5 stars. Ask for Jorge. All of the waiters and waitresses were exceptional, but Jorge was born in Mexico, educated in California and speaks English fluently. He was obviously highly trained in his field. After you have spent the day sightseeing, shopping, and dodging other tourists in the market squares, take a break upstairs at Tres Bistro . Excellent food, superb service, cool, refreshing and relaxing. You won't want to leave. Address: Portal de Flores 3, Centro, 68000...
