I'm going to start by giving some advice to those reading these reviews. If you dig a little you will see that most people giving bad reviews show a history of giving bad reviews, so I would disregard them totally. They are just people who seemingly like to complain.

That said, we were very surprised and satisfied with the food, atmosphere, and service at Tr3s 3istro, especially with it being located on the main square which would generally indicate "tourist quality food". However, that was not the case.

We had a dinner reservation for later in the evening at another restaurant in town, but by late afternoon we needed something to hold us over. With the sky looking grim we popped in without much consideration or expectations, and our experience ended up being delightful.

The view of the square is great and the menu has something for everyone. Our choices were at different ends of the spectrum, beef tongue in almond mole and a three-cheese smash burger. Both turned out to be perfectly cooked and full of flavor (they also make potato chips in-house which were totally unexpected and incredible).

Overall, don't listen to the negative reviews from the pathological complainers and give this...

So disappointed as this was my second time here. The last time was in November and I decided to return as I had such a fab meal and great service. Unfortunately this time, we had asked for a table overlooking the Zócalo but they were all taken. We were seated a row away, then saw that a couple was leaving. We asked if we could have the table as they were cleaning and was advised that it was held for someone else. Another table became available which they gave us. I ordered the prawns as a starter and sea bass for my main. My friend was not hungry so just had a drink. The prawns and sea bass came at the same time. When ordering, the server asked how I'd like my fish done. I'd answered well done before I realised that that was a weird question for fish. The prawns and the seabass were really salty and the seabass was rubbery and overcooked. I couldn't eat the sea bass ñ and took the prawns as a takeaway as the salad balanced out the saltiness. They charged me half the price of the sea bass and the total including 2 softdrinks came to 434.00 pesos. Such an unsatisfying...

Tres Bistro was one of the highlights of my stay in Oaxaca, Mexico. Located right in the middle of the old square, this wonderful restaurant offers a bird's eye view of the daily activities and excitement of the square, all from the upper level balcony. The food is EXCELLENT,...freshly prepared and served with a touch of class. I especially appreciated the presentation of meals on fine china, white tablecloths, and an assortment of wine glasses. Oaxaca can be hot and dusty at times, but the Tres Bistro keeps its air conditioner at a very cool, comfortable setting. And service?....another 5 stars. Ask for Jorge. All of the waiters and waitresses were exceptional, but Jorge was born in Mexico, educated in California and speaks English fluently. He was obviously highly trained in his field. After you have spent the day sightseeing, shopping, and dodging other tourists in the market squares, take a break upstairs at Tres Bistro . Excellent food, superb service, cool, refreshing and relaxing. You won't want to leave. Address: Portal de Flores 3, Centro, 68000...

I went in to watch the Superbowl. I sat at the bar area and had the pleasure of being served by Jorge. I had a heavy lunch earlier so after halftime when I wanted dinner I asked Jorge to recommend something light and tasty. He suggested I get the green mole but to replace the pork rib with vegetables but I was curious about the rib so I asked for it as it is offered but with a side salad. The mole was delicious, it was light but decadent. The rib was cooked perfectly and when mixed with the rice and mole it made for a really nice taste. The off menu side salad was perfect, the cold vegetables were crisp and the warm vegetables we perfectly soft but with enough bite it make it feel right. Whoever prepared my meal knows what they are doing. I didn't get to enjoy the front overlooking the Zocalo but it looked really beautiful and the ambience was nice. Earlier I had a cappuccino and later a lemonade. I enjoyed both.

This location is unbeatable: right in front of the Zócalo with a side view to the cathedral. I went there for breakfast first thing in the morning before heading to Monte Albán. The service was slow considering it was practically empty, just three tables with customers. Breakfast was OK. My eggs were very dry, the refrito as well. I would almost say it was leftover refrito from the previous day. Without the outstanding location, this place would not be as well known as it is. It's not fine dining food. Noise-wise, it was almost on the fence as we had a saxophonist playing 80's music at 8:00 AM! On the bright side, the orange juice however was delicious and clearly from freshly squeezed local oranges and the bread was recently baked and delicious.
