You obviously must actually want to eat a Whole Foods plant based meal and understand the huge obstacles involved in making a healthy pizza that tastes delicious and delightful but in a different way then when you “used to” eat a pizza. I, for example, was a meat eater for the first 50+ years of my life. I’ve now been a vegan (but really a Whole Foods plant based eater) for about a year now. As such, my taste buds have changed and evolved.
With that big disclaimer I can tell you how I felt about my pizzas. There was one made with mushrooms and onions that was so unique and original and “it still worked” and tasted like a pizza. I had another that had a huge variety of veggies with little avocado slices; delicious. Also a bolognese one that was very tasty and most reminiscent to what I would have had before going “vegan”.
They offer two crusts, one regular with gluten which is a bit fluffier and full like what you’d expect and a gluten free one made for chick peas tapioca and one more ingredient I was told but forgot. My wife didn’t love this one but for me (a pretty hardcore no grains, flour, bread, corn, wheat, etc.) type I was amazed by it even being available as an offering and still liked it. On vacation I “allowed myself” to have the regular as well which was obviously truer to typical pizza crust. But, if I was living here and keeping a strict diet I would always opt for the gluten free one. Keto folks would definitely appreciate it too.
They put a lot of care into the crust and vegan cheese alternatives so to me they tasted delicious!
The owners were extremely hospitable and discussed the ingredients openly and it just further cemented the feeling that a lot of care was put into the creation of their offered pizzas and that they put a lot of love into each one.
We already went back for a to go order and hope to get a 3rd visit before we leave PDC if possible. I’d say if your a vegan, vegetarian, or even in the “clean keto” camp, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that you have many delicious...
Read moreBiggest mistake.. Ordering here twice.. Last night I had the primavera caribeño pizza and the one with the vegetables and avocado on top. To be completely honest both were mediocre and lacked flavor in my opinion. I believe a place that specializes in vegan pizzas should have distinct flavors for their pizzas. Based off the reviews and being 4.9 stars; I expected to be “wowed”!!! But it was more of an. It was ok. Yes, OK. Nothing to come out of your way for. The pro’s are the following: It is vegan and you have a gluten free options. Con’s: I believe the pizzas are overpriced but people see value differently. Going by taste and quality I’d say they are overpriced by 30%. Also the gluten free options come with an additional charge.
Today, I was really in the mood for vegan empanadas! And the guy I sat down next to last night went on about how good the empanadas were. So, I returned simply to try them out. I had three: The spinach, the mushroom, and the “setas”. The setas empanada had a pretty good flavor but the other two in my opinion were bland. The waitress came to me and asked how did you enjoy the empanadas and I told her the truth. I didn’t like 2 of the three. She remember me from last night and asked how did I like the pizza’s. I said they were ok. She responded “well, now you know” Which I thought was odd. Long story short the service and food is mediocre! I wouldn’t have high expectations. Food is quite flavorless. Service...
Read moreExcellent food. Great prices, it was very affordable. Everything is vegan! It is located right in the center, a few blocks away from all the busy parts of Playa Del Carmen. I loved that it was right across the street from a playground, so my family could play and then grab a treat.
The vegan cheeses and faux meat are bespoke and made in-house by a wonderful chef. The flavorful cheese was rich and creamy. The Manglar smoothie was refreshing. Pizzas had unique flavors with the option to try two different flavors in half pizzas. They also have Gluten-Free pizza dough. We had the Tulum, Green Reef, Pepperoni, and Primavera Caribeña.
The empanadas were the best! They were so cute and perfect in various flavors. My favorite was the Elote Delight. And, of course, all of the empanadas are vegan. I highly recommend trying them all.
Superb presentation on all parts of the meal. Even the takeaway containers have beautiful illustrations. The desserts were exquisite and 100% vegan. I had to buy two of each! I did not get to try the flan, but this is THE place to get vegan flan. It gets sold out by midday. This is a rare gem for vegans and non-vegans to enjoy. Everyone should try the food at least once.
They are mindful and kind. They leave food and water out for animals. They are also inclusive of the...
