El Tapas & Company in Playa del Carmen is a true culinary gem that transported me straight back to my days in Spain! From the moment we sat down, we were in for an extraordinary dining experience. We started with the gazpacho, which was refreshingly authentic and bursting with vibrant flavors. The croquettes were perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, a true delight.
The papas bravas were a standout, boasting a perfect balance of spice and crunch, and the torta española was simply incredible – a hearty, flavorful dish that felt like a comforting slice of Spain. Each bite was a nostalgic journey, reminding me of the bustling tapas bars and charming eateries of Spain.
The sangria was spot on, too! It had the perfect blend of sweetness and tang, making it an ideal accompaniment to our meal.
What truly impressed us were the prices – incredibly reasonable for such high-quality, authentic fare. The staff at El Tapas & Company were super attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and providing excellent recommendations.
The ambiance of the restaurant is both cute and inviting. You have the choice between indoor seating, which offers the comfort of air conditioning, or the charming patio seating that overlooks the park next door – perfect for a leisurely meal and some delightful people-watching.
El Tapas & Company is a must-visit for anyone in Playa del Carmen looking for an authentic taste of Spain. With its incredible food, spot-on sangria, reasonable prices, and welcoming atmosphere, it's an experience not to be missed. Highly...
Read moreWe had dinner here with a group of five. The servers were very kind and passionate about their food and drinks. When we tried to order a tinto de verano for the table, our waiter said he would serve us that, but strongly recommended we order their sangria instead because he thought it was much better.
I learned a long time ago to order what the house recommends, so we switched the drink order and were highly satisfied with their complex and handcrafted sangria. A 2L carafe split five ways turned out to be only 57 pesos a person and we each got about three glasses out of it (plus a nice helping of drunken mango at the bottom).
We ordered the ceviche, which was a classic Mexican style and very good. We also ordered the seafood paella. The paella is probably their specialty and it is quite good. There is lots of seafood, including whole shrimp, mussels, clams, and calamari. They say it is for two people, but we had plenty to share around the table along with our other food orders.
Fair warning, the paella takes about forty minutes to prepare. So, don’t come here ready to eat right away if that is what you are ordering. Besides, this is a Spanish restaurant in México. Nothing about that combination implies fast food. You should take your time, relax, and enjoy your company and the atmosphere. The food is...
Read moreAdvice from a Spaniard I'm from Madrid, Spain, living in Los Angeles, California. Trust me when I say that this is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant with the authentic "toque español" (Spanish flavor) that I've been to outside of Spain. They serve very generous "raciones" (portions) that are great for sharing. if you are by yourself, you can ask for half portions, so you can taste different dishes. High quality and fresh ingredients make up a varied menu, which changes based on what the market and butcher's better products offer at that time. Paco and the staff were super awesome! We ate so many different dishes that we didn't have room for the paella. We are coming back for the paella on Friday. Many, many restaurants offer paella, but very few actually serve a good one...I have high expectations and I'm anxious to try it here. In short, highly...
