Le Petit Chou has good food, and the atmosphere has potential, but the service experience leaves much to be desired.
One of the biggest issues is that requests, even small ones to improve the dining experience, are met with resistance or attitude. For example, if you ask to change tables, adjust the shade (since it’s an open space), or move a chair slightly, the staff seems annoyed rather than accommodating. In my case, a waiter even told us that we “always ask for things” and implied that we shouldn’t—which is strange, considering that in a restaurant, guests naturally make requests to have a more comfortable experience.
I completely understand that not all requests can be fulfilled, but there’s a big difference between saying no politely and making guests feel like a burden. Instead of handling these situations professionally, the waiter seemed to vent his personal frustration on us, which created unnecessary tension.
Another issue is that on rainy days, parts of the restaurant can smell unpleasant, which makes seating choices even more important. Again, being able to move to a more comfortable spot shouldn’t be treated as an unreasonable demand.
Overall, if you’re looking for good food and don’t mind potentially difficult service, this place might still be worth visiting. But if you value a welcoming and accommodating dining experience, be prepared for some...
Read moreWe have been coming here since they opened a few years ago. Always great. Somehow, our visit today was proof that the place has gone down hill. We always order a few fruit juices. What we got this time could only be described as watered-down flavor. We had to send it back and the waiter didn't even ask if we wanted it corrected. After 10 minutes, to the juice lady's credit, she came over and asked about the problem. We explained and she was nice enough to re-do the juices, properly. Our dishes arrived with a side of salad. Gone is the tasty passion fruit dressing and now you get balsamic. How refreshing... Service was very slow although the place wasn't busy. There's no point visiting again, especially in light of the fact that Lara & Luca's newest location is at Ave 10 and Calle 22. That's where we're going...
Read moreOur favourite place to have coffee in the morning.
Wonderful atmosphere, chilled and so friendly.
We came here 3-4 times a week for around 4 months when we lived in Playa. We were welcomed like old friends which was so lovely. They have 3 cats that live at the cafe who are always mooching about wanting attention and snuggles. It’s a very pet friendly cafe.
I love their coffee, el gordo caribeno smoothie, chocolatin (pan au chocolat), breads, pancakes, crepes - everything on the menu is good.
They also have super tasty decaf coffee and pear rooibos tea too.
It’s mostly a quiet neighbourhood cafe which is such a vibe.
I don’t have any pictures of the food, just the cats… 😻
