Disappointing experience – customer service fell short
I came to Que Huevos hoping for a solid brunch, but the experience left a bad taste before I even got to try the food. It was a sunny, extremely hot day, and since all seating is outdoors, it was already tough to sit comfortably. Still, I gave it a shot and sat down, placed a drink order, and tried to make the most of it.
But what really turned me off was the service and inflexibility. I asked if the multigrain bread could be swapped out—something simple—and the waiter had no idea. Not only was the request met with confusion, but the staff told me there were no substitutions allowed at all. I don’t like multigrain, and I wasn’t asking for anything unreasonable. When I’m paying for a meal, I expect at least some willingness to accommodate. It’s not like this was a free meal or a major change.
The whole situation just felt dismissive and unnecessarily rigid. At the end of the day, customer experience matters, and it felt like mine didn’t. I ended up walking out, disappointed that I’d already placed a drink order and sat down before learning how inflexible things were. It’s frustrating when something so small turns into a deal-breaker—especially when it could’ve been avoided with a little care and communication.
Also, since the place is on Fifth, parking is all street-based. Be sure to pay the meter or risk getting ticketed—there’s no room for error there either.
Que Huevos lost a customer before the first bite. It’s unfortunate, because I genuinely wanted to enjoy the food. Hopefully they reconsider how they approach customer service moving forward.
UPDATE 6/30/25-Reply from the owner added. Shows that he trains the staff personally, as he replied in an unprofessional matter. Dude?! We are not friends, a customers preference is first! As I stated your simple waiter, didn’t explain crap. As a tablet would have been...
Read moreI hate to leave bad reviews for businesses but I was very excited to come here and left tremendously disappointed. I walked quite a bit on a Monday morning to have breakfast here based on the excellent reviews. It wasn't very busy, maybe 4 tables and 4 servers. A lot of the time the servers were standing in the street and were not busy. I ordered a green juice, an espresso horchata and a breakfast burrito. I also asked for a cup of ice since juices in MX don't come with ice. The drinks came out quickly and then I had to ask for a cup of ice 2 more times from 2 different people. There was a lovely girl working there who was more attentive than the rest of the male servers. The only reason I left a tip was because of her. The juice was tasty and so was the espresso horchata. I then proceeded to wait exactly 42 minutes for the breakfast burrito. I have time stamps on my photos- I see the owner will read and reply to these reviews so please feel free to ask for evidence, I have it. I reminded the guy about 30 minutes in and he didn't apologize just nodded and walked away. At least an 'I'm so sorry, I forgot to put your order in' would have been nice but he just wasn't friendly or apologetic. The breakfast burrito was at best average. It came with a red salsa that was extremely salty- it's Monday 7/24/23 - the batch had an inedible amount of salt. In total I paid about $23 for those 3 things. Sad to say I won't be back here and don't recommend this...
Read moreWe really wanted to try this cafe because the person who owns the condo we stayed at recommended it. My friend and his son went the first morning of our vacation and said they waited about 15 minutes but no one ever acknowledged them so they left. We decided to try again the next day, and this time there was three of us. It was busy but there were a few tables open. Although we were seated within five minutes of our arrival, no one came to our table after that. About 15 minutes passed, and I decided to get the waiter’s attention since we noticed he was mostly chatting with his regular customers instead of tending to customers. He didn’t seem to like that I told him we were ready to order. He came to the table, started taking our order and my friend who doesn’t speak perfect Spanish but at least tries, was trying to order in Spanish. The waiter stopped him and very loudly and very rudely ordered him to stop trying to speak Spanish. He literally said “Sir, I speak English, please, just look at me and just order in English.” My friend was very embarrassed, especially since it happened in front of other people. We couldn’t believe how obnoxious and unprofessional the guy behaved. The waiter was rude, disrespectful, cocky and frankly, the food was mediocre. Nothing special. We didn’t go back the rest of the week we were there. I hardly ever leave bad reviews, but when it comes to bad customer service, I’m not afraid to call...
