Capitan Sandwich — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Ordered a sandwich that came 15 minutes later than all the other food at the table. Everyone that came after us had already finished eating. When I finally wanted to dig in, a waitress stopped me and took it away because it was another person's order and the other person had mine. They exchanged food between tables during covid and expected me to eat it. Which, sorry, but I wouldn't normally do anyway. Then I waited another 10 minutes to pay for the food that they had indeed managed to bring earlier for my husband. No excuse by the staff, they said absolutely nothing to me, I just had a waitress yell at me telling me that my tone should be more respectful when I asked for my bill the second time because she doesn't take care of my table and can't bring it to us. But she didn't say this the first time I asked for the bill. And all that because I was clearly and justifiably annoyed and hungry. Very bad experience service wise. They might be nice when everything goes smoothly, but their true character lies in conflict resolution and it's not good. Also dubious on the hygiene standards since they thought exchanging...

Busy place on a more quiet 5th ave. The menu has a lot of options and took us some time to choose. Service is attentive but it is slow so be advise if you are looking for a quick bite this may not be the place for you. I thought the sandwiches were a little pricey but the ingredients are very fresh and probably the widest selection of fresh veggies I’ve seen in 1 restaurant. Our food was fresh but nothing more to write about than that. We will go back to try other items.

Update: we went for breakfast and I have to appreciate once again the freshness of the ingredients but once again void of any flavor. I don’t believe there is a proper chef who is running the kitchen as the omelette was really more like a scramble folded in 1/2 and there were roots in with the vegetables. The place was okk and the food was also okk. The waiters were friendly. The Pancake were in our opinion way to thick and it felt really heavy. From the taste it was okk. The second coffee that we ordered came only half full. The biggest problem that we had the was with the payment. The bill was everything okk, but after the waitress put the tips (we said 10%) and got our card to pay, it came somehow way more than it should. We were thinking that she put 15% or 20% instead of 10%, but later according to the message from the credit car on our phone, she put to pay in euro and for what we read, this always costs more than paying with pesos. Until now every restaurant asked us if we wanted to pay in pesos or euros, so we were really disappointed that they just did it without saying anything.
