Los Aguachiles — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

SCAM ALERT!!

I ordered a large one-litre drink (regular was 125 pesos, large was 220) and when I got the bill I saw they had punched in 2 regular drinks instead (125x2=250). At first I thought it was a mistake so I told them my bill might be incorrect, and from their response I could clearly tell they intentionally did that. Instead of apologizing for their mistake, they simply said "the price has changed" and when I asked "then why did you punch in 2 regular drinks instead of one large drink that I ordered?", they were silent for a moment and said they will "LET" me pay the right price. It's only about 1 USD but it's the intention that really bothered me; it'd be so easy to punch in wrong numbers (especially for large orders) hoping they wouldn't get caught.

And also, the glass was completely filled up with small ice cubes with very little alcohol, and aguachile as well as 2 types of tacos I had was very mediocre and bland. There are way better seafood restaurants around (e.g. El...

Minha experiência no Los Aguachiles foi decepcionante. Pedimos um prato de atum recomendado pelo garçom, mas ele era pequeno e insuficiente. Depois, pedimos um ceviche, mas trouxeram “Aguachiles” errado e insistiram para que ficássemos com ele.

Os pedidos demoraram muito: uma margarita levou uma eternidade, e só trouxeram dois dos três tacos que pedi. Os nachos para o guacamole nunca chegaram. A Coca-Cola também demorou muito. Quando pedi para não trazerem o terceiro taco, ainda assim insistiram e o trouxeram.

No final, a conta demorou mais de 15 minutos para chegar, e precisei levantar para pagar. O garçom foi extremamente rude ao insistir que eu deveria deixar gorjeta, mesmo após eu explicar que o atendimento não merecia. Isso foi desrespeitoso e deixou a experiência ainda pior.

A comida estava apenas “ok”. Não recomendo e não voltarei.

My experience at Los Aguachiles was disappointing. We ordered a tuna dish recommended by the waiter, but it was small and insufficient. Later, we ordered ceviche, but they brought the wrong dish (“Aguachiles”) and insisted we keep it.

Service was very slow: a margarita took forever, only two out of three tacos were served, and the nachos for the guacamole never arrived. The Coke also took a long time. When I asked them not to bring the third taco, they insisted and brought it anyway.

In the end, the bill took over 15 minutes, and I had to get up to pay. The waiter was extremely rude, insisting that I leave a tip, even after I explained the service didn’t deserve it. This was disrespectful and made the experience even worse.

The food was just “ok.” I wouldn’t recommend it and won’t be returning.

Mi experiencia en Los Aguachiles fue decepcionante. Pedimos un plato de atún recomendado por el camarero, pero era pequeño e insuficiente. Luego pedimos ceviche, pero trajeron el plato equivocado (“Aguachiles”) e insistieron en que lo aceptáramos.

El servicio fue muy lento: una margarita tardó demasiado, solo trajeron dos de los tres tacos que pedí, y los nachos para el guacamole nunca llegaron. La Coca-Cola también tardó mucho. Cuando pedí que no trajeran el tercer taco, aun así insistieron y lo trajeron.

Al final, la cuenta tardó más de 15 minutos en llegar, y tuve que levantarme para pagar. El camarero fue muy grosero, insistiendo en que dejara propina, incluso después de explicar que el servicio no la merecía. Esto fue irrespetuoso y empeoró la experiencia.

Fantastic meal at a great price. Pescado Pachow - mother’s fried fish, Covina. Though not the most complex dish they offer it was perfect, served on a bed of the best coleslaw with tasty rice. Everything was done with care and portions were generous. We stood outside studying the menu for maybe 15 minutes without anyone hawking us or even suggesting we eat there, very refreshing. Just wanted some well cooked fish for lunch and relax a bit. A total stumble upon find that I have already told friends stay at our resort about. I wish we discovered this friendly eatery sooner. There were musicians playing MX tunes and worth tipping before they moved on. My wife normally doesn’t order fried food but she was very happy with her meal. Our waitstaff was welcoming and attentive. We need to go back and try some...
