Quadra Café - Specialty Coffee — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Today was the worst experience yet, at Quadra cafe, where I have been going to for the past year. I initially ordered two frappés which was their promotion today. Several customers came in and ordered after me and received their beverages before the two frappés were even made. As I waited, I decided to order avocado toast. The staff then made a comment to me that my frappé wouldn't be included with my avocado toast, which to me would be obvious to anyone, as they are different items. It felt as though they were insinuating I expected to have the frappé included with the toast. Why would this even come up before the bill was given? The frappés still took too long, and they served it "to go". Was this the first sign my business was unwanted? The breakfast came and my daughter also made her own order of a spinach onion omelette. Everything looked great as usual, but upon cutting into the very first bite a hair emerged and we gave the plate back. I wish we cancelled the food order at that moment. Her order was remade and she finished the meal and on the last bite, underneath the avocado, was yet another hair, same as before. Because she ate, and didn't see the hair until the end, she finished her omelette. They said they didn't charge her for the first plate, which was completely untouched other than one cut with the hair showing from inside the omelette. My first thought was, I sure would hope not. There was no apology made, but we appreciated them redoing the order. But, it also had a hair... and they didn't seem concerned or apologetic that we ate it, despite hair still being on the plate. This hair matched the first hair, and was clearly from the same source. It was off putting to say the least, but they felt I should still pay for the entire meal. The only reason my daughter finished the plate was because the hair was only visible after she moved the last bite, which was the side of avocado. We assumed it wouldn't happen twice of course. The service felt unwelcoming and unfriendly, and the place has really changed in the past year when the service used to be the opposite. We settled on paying for half of that plate after an awkward conversation and exchange between the two staff. The whole experience left me feeling very disappointed and offended by their treatment, even though we just wanted to point out that there was indeed hair mixed into the food. Maybe their attention to detail has declined with new staff, but I used to really enjoy my time ordering coffees, juices, or food from this establishment. What happened? Sad, as this was one of my favourite morning...

Fantastico! A hygienic and modern cafe without the big cafe franchise prices and the pretentious vibe. They have a variety of milk options available for your hot beverage and can accommodate many tastes, sensitivities and preferences. They won my heart with their compostable, to go cup lids😍

The location is very popular amongst remote workers and a secure spot to work, beware there is an Oxxo next door which gets extra busy with a line of people sometimes stretching into the parking lot (in the afternoon and evening). As such, take necessary security precautions if you must step away from your table or are travelling solo.

Overall a safe and quiet place to enjoy high quality coffee, no nearby construction to disturb your flow. To the staff, thank you for your kindness, wishing you...

One of our favorite breakfast/coffee spots in Playa. Not only is the food and coffee good, but the service is great. Mariano is always great with our daughter and provides excellent customer service.

The food and bakery items are always fresh and have great flavor. We especially love eating here on Saturdays for their slightly expanded 'Saturday Brunch' menu.

Some of our favorite items so far have been, the California bagel, mushroom and cheese omelette, croissant breakfast sandwich, brownie frappe, golden smoothie and berry smoothie. All of the baked goods we have ordered are fantastic as well.
