Kal-hua — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

My friend and I, both Deaf, had a terrible experience at this restaurant today. Our waitress, a young woman with black hair, was extremely rude and unprofessional. She seemed more focused on flirting with someone who appeared to be her boyfriend than doing her job. He stood nearby, watching, instead of helping.

When my friend pointed to the menu to order, she misunderstood him and brought the wrong food. Instead of apologizing or fixing the mistake, she blamed my friend and insisted he pay for it. She even threatened to call the police when we tried to explain the issue.

I stepped in to mediate and explained that it’s her responsibility as a waitress to make sure the order is correct. However, she kept denying her mistake and refused my request to speak to a manager. She also blatantly lied about providing separate bills. To make matters worse, she tried to bill me for my friend’s wrong food! In the end, my friend decided to pay for the wrong dish to avoid further conflict.

The waitress, who is a slightly taller, chubby young woman with black hair, was completely inattentive and disrespectful. This level of service is unacceptable. Management needs to address this behavior immediately to make sure other customers don’t face the same issues. I do not recommend this...

a friend and i stopped here on our first night in tulum, drawn by the karaoke singers and the colorful flashing lights. we should have just sat and had drinks, but we were hungry and made the mistake of ordering food.

the food was madddd bland, even when over-salted and sauced. we ordered the mushroom burrito and vegetarian fajitas to share, and while the burrito was ok-ish, the fajitas were essentially raw vegetables with crunchy, under-cooked rice, bean water (without a full bean in site), and actually pretty decent tortillas. originally the server brought out the incorrect dish, because the music was so loud he had trouble hearing our order, but he later brought out what i ordered. unfortunately, i think what he originally brought out was probably better. oh well!

i used the toilet while there, which was a mistake!! the bowl had no seat, and the whole place was grimey and smelled of, well, sewage. tbh i showered as soon as i got back to our homestay.

all in all, come for cute and fun karaoke and a drink or two, but don't drink so much you can't make it to another toilet, and don't...

My experience here was absolutely terrible.

#1 the place was disgusting, no effort put into the maintenance and cleaning of dining, kitchen and bathroom. The men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting, with piss all over the floors, leaking water. It was a nightmare

#2 the food... we were served pork tacos... they were okay. We were also served a burrito and neither of us could stomach it, it looked and tasted as if it were prepared in the bathroom.

#3 the service. The place was absolutely dead and yet our server was slow and uncaring. He appeared to be annoyed to be serving us from the moment we showed up. When the issue of the burrito was brought forward, he shrugged and said we were served and so we had to pay. The only time I truly considered walking out on a bill.

This is the FIRST time I've ever felt strongly enough to leave a negative review about any business. I'm not a picky eater. I'm generally very forgiving of wait staff. For lack of better terms, this place is absolute trash.

There are many great restaurants in tulum and not all are overly expensive. Please, save your money and your health and do NOT eat at this...
