I have been vegan for a decade. And my family and I were so excited to eat at this place considering all of the reviews. We tried several things from the menu and we were left mostly disappointed. They did not have a few options available. To start we ordered the Ixchel smoothie, which really left something to be desired. Something was just meh. We also ordered the Ponderoso, it was just ok. My husband also got me some kind of coffee but it was unfortunately also disappointing.
I hate being hard on vegan places bc I want them all to thrive. So maybe we came on an off day or something bc there are so many good reviews. The vibe was a little off the on waitress, she was great at first when my toddler was upset about something, but when it came to the food she seemed nervous and unsure.
The food we did order was so very bland or gross. My son got the bbq burger, which was on a dry bun. The bbq it came with was not bbq, it was so vinegary. It tasted like just worcestershire sauce and some other bland cream sauce. The potatoes it came with were pretty unseasoned, but fine to my toddler.
My husband ordered the pasta Pomodoro Rossi and it was a bland white sauce with a ton of cheese on top. There were no veggies or accents to the plate.
I ordered the quinoa risotto. And while it looked very pretty, it was dry and pretty flavourless. The grilled veggies on the side were ok, but unseasoned.
We got a pizza with mushrooms for my toddler, and she enjoyed it. But it was also a little bland, I will say we asked for no sundried tomato and arugula (the toddler would not have eaten it), so maybe that is why.
The lady who was the owner or manager, when we told her we didn't want any more of the food bc it wasn't good, asked us if we were vegan. Felt like she was trying to take a dig at us, but we moved on.
To be clear we didn't ask to take anything that we didn't like off the bill, only to pay for what we ordered so we could leave. There was a smoothie we ordered that we never got and we had to show them we never got to have it taken off the bill.
The outside eating area was pretty and it was nice to have some fans blowing down on us. But we unfortunately won't be back.
We had some great experiences at other "healthy" vegan places. Don't be fooled, "healthy" does not need...
Read moreThe stars must have aligned for our meal to suck this much. The food, bland and chewy. Our server was new on the job and was doing his level best, but one of his colleagues managed to tip a pint of lassi down my wife’s back and then swear about her misfortune for having had such an accident. My wife meanwhile rushed off to try and sort herself out in the bathroom while an annoyed waitress scrambled to clean up. Not once did she or her manager come by to apologise let alone enquire as to how my wife was (“drenched” would have been the answer). Eventually someone informed the poor server about the accident and clearly instructed the poor guy to offer us a free desert. Not “the drink/food is on us”, just an offer to stick around even longer in soaked clothes for a desert (we declined). Not the server’s fault, he was clearly just following instructions and being managed by someone with no class. The food would’ve been a let-down in any case, but I wouldn’t have bothered with a review if the accident and poor reactions hadn’t occurred. If I was the manager I would’ve been out there pronto checking if there was anything that could be done and to offer apologies on the house. Instead they just remote controlled the waiter to patch it over. We got charged for everything, of course. The embarrassed server insisted we not leave a tip. If only his boss had the same sense...
Read moreWe saw the reviews and were so excited to try this restaurent but we were more than disappointed with the food and service. We ordered the 3 assortiments of tacos and we coudn’t event finish them we did not enjoy the taste nor the texture. We ordered the hummus toast vegan version and the server brought it with goat cheese. At first we were not sure so we asked the server if it was vegan she confirmed and even asked another server and he confirmed as well. My wife took a bite and almost was sick. It was in fact goat cheese. We called the server so that she could take back the plate we didnt want to eat anymore but we understood that errors can be made so we were not mad. But then she started to argue with us telling us that we have to pay for it even if it wasnt vegan. Mind you cheese is extra charge. After 10 minutes of back and forth she went to speak to the boss who took the order out of our bill. We left feeling sick from the food. Honestly the worst food and service during out stay in tulum. We spent the whole week eating delicious food from various restaurent. Do what you want with this info but I do not recommend this place. I would not go back there even if i...
