They call themselves a beach club but don’t allow costumers to be in the sun or go for a swim if they don’t pay for it.
We were a group of 8 wanting to be near the beach to drink some beers and cocktails, basically wanting to spend a good and chill time on the beach. They had the happy hour happening so we ordered 3 promos = 6 margaritas. Only 5 came to the table and when we asked for the missing one they said it had already gone to the table. They eventually realised the mistake and made another one. Then 2 of us slightly moved our chairs to catch more sun - we immediately felt like we weren’t welcomed. They said we had to pay for the beach club to do that - no previous warning whatsoever, and definitely not something you’d expect from a BEACH CLUB (where you stand on the sand of the beach).
Then, a friend of ours went for a swim in the ocean and when he came back, one of the staff, that at this point was being really weird, called him aside and said that, to go the ocean and come back to the table, we had to pay as well. At this point we asked for the bill since this wasn’t the vibe we were looking for and the staff was really rude and made several gestures with his hand, didn’t quite understand them but for sure weren’t nice. Wouldn’t go back.
Suggestion: don’t call yourselves a beach club if your costumers can be...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would!! We stopped for lunch and drinks. 3 of us wanted a table in the shade...sat down and while my husband and friend were ordering I went to the water to put my feet in. I passed 2 others coming back from the water who were sitting near us. The older waiter came over and told us that if we wanted to go in the water we had to rent their beach chairs. We said no we just want the table...to eat and drink and go in the water to cool our feet off before we eat. He then told us no you can't do that. Those people behind us just went in I said and the beach is public property. Nope...you can't go in the water from here!! We voiced our dissatisfaction...told the people behind us and he let us leave without spending our money there. Shame on this Holbox business!! What a sour taste they have put in our mouth!! Been coming to Mexico since the 80"s...NEVER had this happen anywhere in Mexico. We live in Merida...came here for a get away.......not a nice experience!! Holbox should never...
Read moreAmazing place on Holbox beach. The food was incredible, we got the mixed seafood platter with so much food. It was originally 2000 pesos for 6-8 people but they told us we could order half for 1000 which was perfect for 2 (even a little much but we are Italian so we eat a lot). There was half a lobster, fried fillet of fish, grilled fillet of fish, prawns in garlic, mixed Ceviche, fried tortilla, rice and salad. They also have happy hour with 2 x 1 drinks for 200. Will definitely come back. Out waiters were Froy and Chimex, we got impeccable service. Amazing vibe, you have a view of the sun setting on the beach, and lonely tunes too! 5 stars...
