It took awhile to write this review because I was checking out lots of restaurants in San Miguel & wanted to compare it and give it justice.

First of all, Mario the owner is very attentive! Someone commented that he has a bad attitude, which I disagree. Does he have a unique personality?ABSOLUTELY!! He is a small business owner trying his best to please and satisfy everyone that enters his restaurant. He is the hostess, waiter, bartender, comedian, entertainer but most importantly, he is welcoming you as a guest into his home!

I wish I had taken pictures of the food before stuffing my face with all the deliciousness we ordered! We all ordered Palomas to drink & Mario looked a little puzzled, so he asked, "What's in it?" He came back with one of the BEST Palomas we've ever had!! He could've easily said we don't have that, but again, he is in the business to serve and make all his customers happy. Another detail I wanted to point out was when Mario asked how the food was? Seeing that our plates were completely empty, he saw we loved every bite. Well, 5 minutes later, he came to our table with the woman who prepared our dishes. I forgot her name but Mario acknowledged and praised her for being a part of his team. These are the small business owners I want to patronize♡

As I mentioned earlier, I went to a lot of restaurants that ranged from $-$$$$ during my stay in San Miguel and Mario's will give you that laid back Welcome to Mexico kind of feeling. Do not expect air conditioning, hovering servers or fine China. Show up with an empty belly, flip flops & a...

If I could review this place 0 stars I would. I would not recommend this place to anyone as the customer service is absolutely terrible. I was very excited to try this place out as I read the online reviews and multiple friends & family have recommended as a must try in SMA. Since the place is very small and seating is limited, we waited outside for about 15 minutes until a table was available which was no problem since we were able to order drinks while we waited. As soon as we sat down at our table is when the terrible customer service began. The gentle man in charge immediately began to rush us as he claimed he had a “food delivery” within 30 minutes & he didn’t want our order to delay which is understandable except for his rude tone of voice and gestures. When we asked about plate ingredients he became angrier and insisted we read the menu instead of asking him. Since the gentleman was clearly irritated and unwilling to answer our menu questions we asked for the check in which he just laughed and placed our change on the table without even acknowledging us further. He knew we were upset about the service and he basically rushed us out. I have honestly never felt more disrespected at a dining experience in my life. I would have preferred to have been told to come back on a different occasion and not have been treated the way we were. I understand everyone is short staffed and that he could have been stressed due to his food order, however you never treat customers...

What a great way to start my travels in San Miguel!! The food was delicious and flavorful! I had the cilantro/garlic crab plate, which did not disappoint. The Marin salsa that comes as a complimentary was soooo good 😋 we have a saying where if someone is quiet while eating it means they are thoroughly enjoying the food, needless to say, I was not saying any word until I had scuffed down my food 😁 The service was really fast and the owner bless his heart, such a nice man! The decor and atmosphere needs a mention too. What a cozy, quaint and colorful place! Definitely try this place and get a margarita while you're at it. You won't be disappointed

The restaurant atmosphere is fun and interesting. Everyone doing their part in the covid fight Distanced tables etc. The food was quite good. Hard to do unless you source fresh seafood to serve in the middle of Mexico. Shrimp in the shrimp cocktail were large and tasty. More shrimp than expected. I had a shrimp quesadilla which combined with the shrimp cocktail was very filling. My better half had beef fajitas which didn't let her down. They weren't very busy on a late Wednesday afternoon. Everyone there was very friendly. They don't take credit cards. They are currently the #1 restaurant on TA. Well worth a high ranking. We will be back.

I found this place through Google too and saw some great reviews, I walked to get to this tiny spot and actually started raining the minute i was in so it set up the mood for my dining. I had the pulpo in butter and garlic and it was tender and really good. I had rice with it but it wasn't the traditional Mexican rice, they gave me a sticky rice with a sweet flavor to it similar to those asian rice wrapped in banana leaves, it was good on its own but feels like it didn't go with the pulpo. They serve you chips and salsa which was good too, they had one dip with actual fish in it. I also tried the scallop tostada and wasn't disappointed.
