Customers beware. Outrages prices for bad tasting food. I am a retired U.S. Citizen with Mexican and Japanese heritage. I now live in San Miguel de Allende and I wanted to try this place. The wife and I, along with some friends, humble family from a nearby town. Waited for nearly an hour to be seated. The mother of the visiting family is 82 years of age and uses a cane. I advised a young lady that we would wait for a table. I believe she was the daughter of possibly the lady in charge or wife's Owner. She immediately brought a chair so the lady could sit.
As stated before, I am retired and very informally dresses, Jean's and Hawaiian shirt. It was obvious to me they were sitting people ahead of us, even though though we had be waiting. These folks talked, were dressed, and acted like they were VIPs.
Too make this story short, when they finally gave us a table, there was a total of five adults and two children, I quickly asked for a beer and asked if they served pizza since the teenage visitor was asking for pizza. The waiter, zombie looking, looked very unhappy that he was serving us, immediately stated that they did not serve pizza and left.
About a minute later, the older woman in charge, came up to me and told me that they did not serve beverages if no food was ordered. She then continued and pointed across the street and stated that the location served pizza. In other words, they did not want our business. I did not want to create a scene with our visitors from out of town being present, so I acted calmly and advised the woman that it being an Italian Restaurant, it was assumed pizza was available.
The lady then stated that only fresh quality dishes were prepared at her establishment. She was one condescending woman.
We ordered food and drinks. Beers were 65 pesos, about $3.50 dollars, not cheap, this is considered very expensive.
The food was blahs, no real flavor. They brought the seafood ravioli for my wife, who repeated herself three times that she wanted the beef, not only to the waiter but also to the woman in charge.
I will never again visit this so called Italian restaurant, Bella Italia, it is expensive, bad food, and...
Read moreMy husband and I visited San Miguel for a couple days and came across this Italian restaurant right in downtown. We were told 30 minutes until food was served, so we just ordered some drinks. After 30 minutes, we were told we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for food. That was a bit annoying, but honestly the whole experience was worth the wait. We might have just been lucky, but as we received our meals (Spaghetti for me and steak for my husband), a mariachi band came up to the restaurant and started to play and sing! It was so lovely. Our food was absolutely delicious! We finished every bit of it. We had some more drinks and then went across the street to a plaza. Great placement. If you have some extra time to sit around while in San Miguel, I...
Read moreI am french but I ll write in English for all to understand how bad this place was for the food. The service was quite good and the waiters super nice. Nevertheless, the meat (veal and I know how to recognize thanks) I ordered was awful and the smell disgusting. They pretend to be Italian restaurant and they don't have Pizza. I don't recommend this place but feel free to go! And to be complete I am half french half italian. So before asking some respect from customer you gave horrible food (on this plate for my case) you should respect your customer by serving what you pretend to serve, Italian food. So please don't be insulting!...
