One of the best Mexican Restaurants in Mexico
The Mamazzita Tulum is a great place and definitely worth a visit! We've been to many restaurants in Tulum - the Mamazzita was by far the best.
Let's start with the place:
The Mamazzita a very cool with different kind of tables and launches. We had a big round table on the raised area with a perfect view over the restaurant. The ambience is warm and Mediterranean. Especially in the dark there is a great atmosphere. The place is not quiet, it's a party place! There was a DJ playing loud music all evening. A good mixture of house, hip hop & Mexican music. There where also beautiful & elegant dancers in the restaurant.
The food:
The Mamazzita offers an extensive selection of Mexican food , interpreted by chef in a modern and sophisticated way. The presentation of the food is very well thought out and appealing. Quality and taste are on a very high international level. Some dishes were close to a Michelin 1 star level. We had a short chat after our dinner with the chef.
The service:
The service at Mamazzita is extraordinary! We had a reservation (5 people) and arrived about 15 minutes later. The reception was very friendly and we were seated within a very short time.
In addition to the head waiter responsible for us, two other waiters were responsible for our table. They were well trained, courteous and yet unobtrusive at all times. We were given professional and personal advice on the selection of food and drinks. All the details we requested were taken into account.
Summery:
All in all we had a wonderful evening with dinner, drinks and great entertainment! I can warmly recommend the Mamazzita....
Read moreMy fiancé and I have been traveling in Latin America for several weeks, and Mamazzita has been one of the restaurants we have been most excited about. We both work in the hospitality industry, and have eaten at restaurants ranging from gas stations and taco trucks, to Michelin star establishments. Our visit to Mamazzita was utterly disappointing from start to finish. The setting of the restaurant is great, with good music, and ambiance. Unfortunately, this is where the good times end. Our waiter had no interest in providing any kind of service. The tequila tasting we ordered came with zero expectation, just three shots slammed on the table, all basic store bought entries, coming in at USD 100. When the appetizers arrived, it took two different waiters to explain what they were, so we had an idea what we were having. The food was bland, tasteless and exorbitantly overpriced. The first course was not any better, with burrata and tacos lacking taste, texture, or any kind of quality. At this point we decided to call it a night, write down our losses and head home. The waiter attempted to force a 30% “service charge” added to our bill, saying that it’s not a tip. This was not disclosed in advance in any way. We refused to pay this, and HE asked for the manager. Long story short, we ended up with a USD 250 bill for atrocious food and horrible service. This restaurant is not “fine dining” in any way, shape or form, and you can eat much better food in literally dozens of places in the area, for the fraction of the cost. It is a horribly expensive place, serving subpar food, with zero service. Avoid...
Read moreOverall great choice for a night. This was our first night here and it was a great start to our vacation. We arrive around 10 PM when there was a series of shows with sparklers singing and dancing. The singer is amazing and the staff does a really good job of getting you up to dance and enjoy. This is definitely an experience type of restaurant so it takes time to order and get drinks the food takes quite a while but you can see the cooks making fresh tortillas and they also make the guacamole at your table which is kind of cool. I loved how involved and genuinely engage the staff was in making sure everyone’s having a good time and dancing with the customers. I also love that they handled sparklers quite a bit and encourage the ladies to stand on the chairs and tables and really enjoy and celebrate. No the food I would say was average at best. It is a sharing style so everything that is ordered is brought out to the table for everyone to share. They do have a couple of vegan options but they are very small. The mushroom quesadillas were OK and very very small and the tacos no palace we’re not really good at all unless you’re around vegan and then you might like them. The guacamole was nothing special. Then to split the bill they only take three cards which was annoying and it would’ve been nice to know in the beginning but they don’t charge a minimum, there’s no cover charge and there’s no time limit which apparently is not super common so this is a great place to go overall it’s super fun it’s a great night and I would recommend it! Shout out to the DJ as well, music is very...
