Had the octopus tacos (overcooked and salty) and Sashimi, excellent. Sign outside said happy hour 2 for 1. We asked bartender before ordering and he said yes for 2/1. Wife had very good Margaritas and just beer for me. When received bill he charged for both beers and added 20% tip. Menu says 15% tip is suggested. Tells us the 2 for 1 beers ended at 7:30. When I told him I would take price of the beer out of the tip, he threatened to call the police. Tells me the police will believe him because he is Mexican and I’m a tourist. Be aware of this place because they made it a mandatory 20% tip and not 15% suggested as the menu states
Drinks and food came to 910 and 182 for 20% tip. Total was 1,092. Ended up giving him 1,100. Put on table, not thrown in anyone’s face. Definitely not a racist, my wife is Latina and she even asked in Spanish about the happy hour prior to ordering. He told my wife in Spanish that if you don’t want to pay the tip then he will charge 200mx for the 2nd margarita. My wife wanted me to pay the bill and leave because she was afraid about him calling the police. Don’t like being taken advantage of as a tourist. You also have previous bad reviews about workers demanding tips so you know it has...
Read moreHard to review this place. They have the sky bar which we didn’t partake in both nights we had dinner here. But I’m sure it’s cool. Though the dinner is why I’m writing a review. Great food. No doubt about it. But damn did it take some time to get it. First night we were just the only people dinning and it took some time. We came back a second time because we wanted to stay around our hotel and we happened to have arrived when there weren’t many other tables, but then all of a sudden more people started showing up (in total 6 tables). And we waited almost an hour to receive our food, which wasn’t complicated stuff either. But hey, the food was delicious so I guess it was worth the wait! Ceviche tropical delicious, tacos amazing and definitely go for the banana balls as...
Read moreSo delicious! This place was right across from our hotel. I was searching for great traditional Mexican cuisine and this is the spot! I never eat chicken but for some reason I ordered the chicken lime soup & chicken burrito. The chicken was so tender & delicious & the habanero hot sauce put it over the top. I also ordered a michelada and it was perfect. The fiance ordered the beef tacos and they were perfectly medium rare, not greasy, served on pink fresh handmade tortillas and delicious tomatillo. Refugio took such great care of us when we sat down he brought 2 fans and plugged them in next to us both to cool us down from the severe heat. We plan to go to Ciel tomorrow for cocktails, they have the best rooftop bar for incredible sunset views! So happy it's...
