Usually my favorite bar in Montenegro and especially Budva. Have been coming to the place for years because of the great vibe, music and drinks. Last week however, the experience was dreadful. I haven't had a waiter a acting more arrogant and rude than the tall, tatooed, 'pumped alfa male' one. When trying to order a drink at the bar with either him or the barman, he pushed a away my hand from the bar twice as a means to describe I should order somewhere else(!). Staff should never touch customers, especially not like this! Unfortunately prices compared to last year have increased with at least 20-30% even though the quality of drinks (or staff) have not. The fact that most customers are foreigners should not be the reason to raise prices drastically. Too bad this place has changed from a local pure bar to a commercial factor with little to no feeling for warmth or...
Read moreCasper is probably the best summer bar in Budva. The atmosphere is nice, with a great crowd and no rowdy drunken teenagers. The drinks are pretty good and a the garden and the location itself is really beautiful. However, the biggest downside is that it’s always packed in the summer, making it difficult to find a place to sit.
Unfortunately, the service is often disappointing. One particularly bad experience involved a waiter who didn’t speak Montenegrin or English and had no idea what “Prosecco” was. Instead of bringing us glasses of wine, he sent a colleague over with a whole bottle, claiming he couldn’t take it back with a remark that a bottle is better than a glass anyway and we’ll drink it. We actually couldn’t and it’s not up to him to decide how much we can or...
Read moreOrdered the Penente Unleashed Trapan white wine by the glass. It's made with Malvasia from Istria, Croatia. It turned out to be an organic wine, which isn't my cupa tea. It's cloudy and tasted sour, with dominant yellow plum and star fruit. Interesting complexity to make sure it's not a complete disaster for me. 5.5 EUR was rather regrettable. Unlike the establishments in the US, if you ordered it, you are stuck with it. The logic is that it's not their fault that you didn't know it's an organic wine. The service is also typical of Montenegro because they don't expect tipping. Like it or not, it's a different culture. It also depends on who your server might be, as I've encountered both awesome and stone...
