When we arrived we were given a different room than booked and were told that the airconditioning had broken down three days earlier. There was no indication in the room that there had ever been any though. We were given an Electric fan as a replacement. Unfortunately we did pay for the bigger room we had originally booked and were offered no discount or anything else to make up for the situation.
Also the bathroom was in a separate room that could only be accessed through the hallway, which made it more of a hassle to use. While the bathroom looked very nice when quickly viewed we soon discovered that some appliances were broken. It also had not been cleaned properly for a while. In that vein, we also discovered a previous visitor's deodorant on the floor in our room. Combined with the unclean bathroom this gave us some doubts about the state of our own room.
Breakfast was abundant (bread, fruit and yoghurt) although a bit dry and stale.
Unfortunately we had no time to discuss this with the manager, or we would have. The hotel staff was very friendly (aside from the dubious airconditioning situation) and spoke fluent English. They also accepted both euros and dirham...
Read moreStaying here, in the Medina, is definitely a different way to experience Tangier – but I don’t think I’ll return.||Not that difficult to find (google maps worked amazingly well in the Medina and the Kasbah). The staff were very friendly and helpful, checkin was fine, bear in mind you have to pay in cash when checking in. ||My room was decently sized, nicely decorated with Moroccan lamps and woodwork. Small flat-screen with a few channels, including BBC. Wifi worked fine, in room and at breakfast. No real storage space apart from a cupboard with a few shelves. There’s an a/c which worked fine. Small table and two chairs. ||The room was not really well-maintained, Out of two beautiful Moroccan lamps, one had a horrible white led bulb, one wasn’t working. The bathroom was large, but the shower head holder was broken. The room is carpeted, but the carpets (and the bathroom mats) were not clean at all. The windows opened onto the street, and it was noisy, even late at night – despite closing the windows and the rolling blinds. ||Breakfast was good – some fruit, bread, spreads, juice, coffee, tea –...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place. As a solo traveler and 4200 miles from home Ireally appreciate a hotel that is welcoming, clean, safe, comfortable and in an authentic location. Dar Tanger Medina has all of these. It is nestled in the heart of the winding roads of the old Tangiers Medina. A little hard to find but a pleasant oasis. The staff was accommodating and awesome. Great people. The hotel is not your cookie cutter hotel but if you want something authentic this is it. The room was large with a big bathroom. Decorated in Moroccan style. Very clean with a nice view. It was a bit noisy due to the shops and residential neighborhood it was located in. Very reasonably priced. The hotel also had a roof top terrace with a great view. Complimentary breakfast is served every morning up there. I spent the first part of my trip (4 nights) and after traveling ti Chefchaouen came back for another 2 nights before flying home. Again, don’t expect the luxuries of a high end hotel but if you want a safe, clean, authentic, reasonably priced hotel in a unique location with friendly staff in Morocco this...
