I’ll start off with the positives: The food is solid. Flavors are good. Portions are generous. Great variety of selection. If I didn’t already have travelers tummy, I would’ve tried camel burger. We got Indian veggie curry, harira soup, chicken chawarma, and veggie pasta (I asked for a little meat). We ordered detox, ginger lemonade, banana smoothie, and a bottled drink too. The drinks they made are tasty. The decor is nice.
Negatives: It is extremely small. Calling it a box is pretty accurate. We went last night so it is 100+ degrees in Fes right now. The second floor was just a sauna. We opted to sit downstairs with ac but a large group went upstairs. The bathroom is also upstairs and my friend went to use it and came back looking like she went swimming.
Service is very much lacking. The waitress took our orders and came back with food and we were never able to get her attention after that. She forgot my husband’s bottled drink and the fridge was next to us so after 20 minutes (food had come) he got up and asked the male waiter if he could just grab it from the fridge. That man asked my husband 3x if he had ordered it. Even if he didn’t, could’ve just gone over the three steps to add it in after asking the waiter. It was very condescending, like we were trying to steal drinks. Our group of 4 were pretty...
Read moreI arrived late in the evening in Fes and was staying at a riad nearby. I walked into the medina to find food but everywhere was closing up. I came across the Culture Box who were also closing and I’m so happy I chose here to ask if I could get something quickly to eat.
Samir the owner welcomed me in and kept the shop open so I could eat. I had a humble margarita pizza (to keep things simple) and asked for garlic to be added (to be awkward) which he accommodated no problem. We sat and chatted for over an hour exchanging great conversation about our cultures. I cannot recommend this place enough and it soon became my home away from home stopping by regularly for a chat, coffee, desserts, and several dinners with Samir and his friend.
If you need a break from the traditional Moroccan food or want some vegetarian/healthy options then this is the place to go. It is a hidden gem with beautiful rustic interior, kind and personal service and very tasty food. Please go and visit Samir to experience his kind and beautiful character alongside some fantastic fresh food at...
Read moreI'm an avid traveller who loves food. This place is genuinely one of the best I have come across 10/10 for everything. The places looks attractive on the inside and the outside. The menu is well displayed in both English and French. There is a separate gluten free menu with an incredible selection of foods includinng morrocan, pizzas and pastas to mentiona few. I ate the chicken pizza purely because I have not eaten a gluten free pizza from a restaraunt before. This was incredible and the waiter (Omer) even gave me the recipe. I also had the Berber salad which was a feast for a small army and so incredibly tasty. The portions are big and the price is very good. The atmosphere was very warm and genuine. I got a nice music recommendation from the waitress. I highly recommend this especially if you struggle to find gluten free selection. This restaurant was perfectly run in every way and seeing the staff work and have a good laugh with the guest's was ao refreshing to see. Its something I dont see done so much any more at rhis level. Thank you to all at...
