As a vegetarian, I was recommended by my host to eat at this family eatery due to the restaurant having so many veg options.
I travelled 20 mins to be here, it was very busy, so waited for 40 mins in queue for a table of 4 with two small kids.
There were two other parties who came much later than us but they spoke privately with the waiter (don’t know what they agreed) but the waiter decided to send them first. He didn’t have any consideration for the fact that a family of 4 with 2 small kids were waiting for 40 mins at their door step, standing right in front of him.
I wasted 40mins of my 1.5 day schedule in Rabat. I left the place with two hungry kids. It was astonishing for me to realise that neither the waiter nor the groups of people who came after us thought it was okay to cross out someone else despite seeing small children who were in the queue before them.
Either they give undue preference to locals than to tourists when the place gets busy or the people who came after us promised a bigger tip, I wouldn’t know. But we left the place very disappointed and hurt, to have dealt with such...
Read moreThe wealth of Sham is on display here. Yes, the song “Ya mal al-Sham” plays on repeat day and night through the speakers. But the food is Suri “qoh”. The closest perhaps I have ever had outside of Sham. The bread is right, the thum, the fatoush, the mutabel.
Plus the addition of a side of Moroccan Harissa? Jenna? No. Heaven would be playing some of the other great Syrian music that’s out there, ideally solo ‘oud. Heaven would be a location in a house with a courtyard and the removal of the gaudy rainbow chandeliers in the foyer. Heaven would be to have two stomachs so I could eat twice as much as I did. Heaven would be a shisha tufahtain afterward well made by a good fahamji. But for those of us neither in heaven nor in Sham, look you well at this picture. If you truly know how each item on this plate should taste, you will be remarkably happy with Yamal Acham. May you reach Heaven - or at least Damascus - and find better. Until then,...
Read moreFood-poisoning!!! Principally the food is good, BUT the service is horrible and the food came with some flaws…
We ordered 2 Sodas and it took them 25 minutes to bring them. The food took 40 minutes.
My meat plate came a bit cold and one of the meats was not chewable. The first falafel sandwich of my partner was good.
After we ordered the second falafel sandwich it took them 30 minutes again to bring it and they put pickles on it even though we explicitly told them not to do so.
Additionally a lot of the staff just stands around being on their phones instead of collecting the dirty dishes from the table.
You have to admit that it was busy when we went there, but a restaurant should be capable of serving warm food + full fill customers wishes.
I wouldn’t recommend coming here, it is too stressful and the service is insufficient.
Edit: Me and my girlfriend got...
