I have been longing for a succulent and juicy steak for quite some time. I have frequented several Turkish steak houses and am particularly fond of their Halal steaks. It is a rare delight to find tender and juicy Halal meat, so I seize every opportunity to indulge. Whilst in Marrakesh, we resided at one end of the M Avenue in a charming luxury apartment, complete with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. On several occasions during our stay, we dined at M Avenue. After carefully assessing the restaurant, I deemed it worthy of a visit. As it was rather late for a heavy meat meal, we decided to return the following day for an early dinner. Naturally, I prefer not to have my stomach digesting meat while I am sleeping. The next evening, despite the slightly chilled weather, we opted to dine al fresco. The outdoor setting was exceedingly attractive, with heating stoves providing warmth to the diners. We were greeted by an exceptionally courteous captain of the restaurant, who seated us in our preferred spot. Immediately, two servers approached us. The first server ensured our comfort, took our drink orders, and handed us the menus. Meanwhile, the second server activated the heaters. It was time to relish our meal. The server guided us through the menu, and we chose a steak, a rib, and a mixed platter of meats. As appetisers, we were served Turkish mezza with freshly baked Turkish naan, a tandoori round bread. We were delighted with the hot mezza breads, which were absolutely scrumptious. Only true naan aficionados can truly appreciate them. The main courses arrived promptly and were served with an array of sides. I savoured every bite of my tomahawk rib, which was delectable to the last morsel. We thoroughly enjoyed everything on the table and extended our compliments to the chef and servers. Although I did not use their washroom, my family did, and they were truly impressed by its cleanliness and spaciousness. The captain of the restaurant was exceedingly vigilant, overseeing everything with a keen eye, much like a queen bee. Everything seemed to run smoothly around him as if by clockwork. Each time our mezza naan bread was about to finish, a freshly baked bread would promptly appear on our table. The mezza naan was complimentary, and diners could enjoy as much as they desired without the slightest hint of disapproval. Our first experience was so delightful that we decided to return another evening before our departure. Both visits were a treat, and we were grateful to have chosen an area with such wonderful places offering great hospitality and delectable food.

I recently visited Baba Turc in M Avenue , Marrakesh, and while the ambiance of the place is charming, the experience left me with mixed feelings. The service was excellent—waiters were attentive and responsive, which added a nice touch to the visit. We ordered the three assortments meze, which had its highs and lows. Most of the dishes were good, but one of the mezes had a slightly acidic taste, possibly from old tomato sauce, which threw off the flavor. The hummus, however, was satisfying, but the homemade bread served alongside was dry, making it less enjoyable. One thing that stood out was the pricing versus portion sizes. For example, the grilled veggies, which cost 80 dirhams, came in a small portion of less than 100 grams. For that price, I expected more variety and quantity. While the vegetables were grilled on the same grill as the meat so you can imagine the taste, the portion felt minimal. Improving both the presentation and the range of vegetables would elevate the dish. The kebabs were tasty but also on the smaller side, no accompanied sauces, leaving me feeling that the portions overall didn’t justify the price point. Baba Turc could really benefit from rebalancing portion sizes or adjusting pricing to ensure a more satisfying dining experience. Overall, Baba Turc has potential but needs to focus on improving portion sizes, variety, and consistency to justify its pricing fully.

We first experienced terrible service at the restaurant. We were served very late, even though others who arrived after us were served earlier. Additionally, the service wasn’t good initially, with things being forgotten. After a big complaint, the staff made a tremendous effort to turn things around. To be fair, the restaurant was very full, and there was a large group that seemed to overwhelm the team. However, after our complaint, they apologised many times, and even the manager got involved to ensure our experience improved. From that point on, we were served like royalty. They made sure we had a wonderful evening, even offering complimentary dessert. Despite the initial hiccup, the food was excellent, showcasing the restaurant’s quality. It was evident that they just had an exceptionally busy night and some bad luck. Additionally, the show was a cool experience that added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Special thanks to Tolga and Ayub, who were great and made a significant positive impact on our experience, and big big thanks to the manager who assured that we had a great experience. Overall, the restaurant has great potential, and we appreciated their efforts to make things right.
