the restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the bustling "M Avenue," making it an ideal spot for those seeking a delightful dining experience with a picturesque backdrop. The traditional ambiance, coupled with the enchanting sounds of Moroccan music, particularly Gnawa, creates a captivating atmosphere that immerses you in the local culture. Le Douar certainly captures the essence of Morocco with its charming and authentic decor. The restaurant boasts a traditional look, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the rich heritage of the country. From the intricate tile work to the plush cushions and vibrant colors, every aspect of the restaurant's design contributes to an immersive and enjoyable dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Le Douar offers a delectable menu featuring a variety of Moroccan dishes. The culinary creations showcase the rich flavors and aromatic spices that make Moroccan cuisine so renowned. The food quality is commendable, and each dish is thoughtfully prepared, reflecting the authenticity and passion of the culinary team. Whether you're indulging in traditional tagines, flavorful couscous, or succulent grilled meats, you'll find the dishes to be satisfying and full of Moroccan flair. However, it's important to note that Le Douar's prices can be quite steep. The restaurant falls into the higher end of the price spectrum, which might not be suitable for those on a tight budget. As someone who is well-acquainted with the authentic taste of Moroccan cuisine, my recent dining experience at Le Douar in Marrakech was deeply disappointing.
Having dined here before, I noticed a decline in their quality over time, with tonight being the worst experience yet.
I began my meal with the Breouat, which was unfortunately served with uncooked shrimp. This was not only unappetizing but also a potential health hazard. Adding to my dissatisfaction was the manager's complete lack of apology or effort to rectify the situation, even after showing him a picture of the raw shrimp.
Next, I ordered the fish with spinach. While it was edible, it lacked the rich flavors and freshness I expect from Moroccan seafood dishes. It was mediocre at best and far from the vibrant and aromatic experience that Moroccan cuisine typically offers. The most problematic aspect was that even after sending the fish back to the chef, he insisted it was cooked, despite it clearly being undercooked. This response was mind-blowing and unacceptable.
The most disheartening part of my meal was the Koskso. This dish was, quite frankly, the worst I have ever tasted. It was bland, poorly cooked, and did not resemble the traditional couscous I grew up loving.
In summary, my experience at Le Douar was far from satisfactory. The uncooked shrimp, lackluster fish, and dreadful Koskso, coupled with the poor customer service from the manager, made it the worst dining experience I've had in Marrakech. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking authentic and delicious...
Read moreWe were nicely received by the hostess who quickly assigned us to a table despite not having a reservation. She was very accommodating and brought us to a nice table. Soon after friends joined us and we were moved to a larger table. The restaurant has a nice view and is nicely decorated. Unfortunately once seated we waited for several minutes to get a menu, and while asking one of the food runners but was sharply denied as 'he (presumably the waiter) is coming'. Nobody came so I had to chase the waiter for a menu. Once we got it we realized after looking around that we had no idea what the dishes were about while no description apart from the traditional names were mentioned. After waiting another several minutes for the waiter, we asked what they were about but he was clearly in a hurry and didn't have time to explain to us while rushing the explanation over 2 dishes and then just said sorry I will come back and just left. We were quite frustrated and decided to leave the restaurant while we expected more patience from the waiter considering that as foreign tourists we have no idea what the dishes are about. The food might be good, but we didn't have the opportunity to try. Eventually when leaving the hostess apologized and mentioned that there was an instagram page with the dishes, photos and explanation which is great but never mentioned by the waiter and just came too late for us who were...
