Dune Rooftop Food & Drinks — Restaurant in Marrakesh Prefecture

The touters for this restaurant are a disgrace to the city. They treat tourists as though we owe them a favor. They passed out fliers promoting their restaurant and said we can take a look and decide again. As they are located beside two other restaurants, I decided to eat with another one that had something I wanted after going through everyone’s menu. They were unhappy with that and walked towards me and asked me to return the flier and said “you are not kind”. I don’t understand why this meant I am not kind? I made my decision to go with a restaurant that I like and they were unhappy as though I owed them that meal. It truly ruins every tourists experience being in this city. It was also the least number of customers in this restaurant as compared to the other two beside and I think that says a lot about the food and service. If this is not the kind of experience that the owner of the restaurant is hoping to give, then I highly suggest that they change these waiters/touters because they are surely not attracting customers with...

Our first night in Marrakesh we discovered this rooftop place. It was definitely a beautiful terrace with spray misting creating a very pleasant microclimate with the hanging baskets. Service was polite and juices were fresh. The challenge I found was in choosing a vegetarian cuisine which is somewhat bland (couscous with caramelised onions and vegetables). My partner ordered the fish fillet and was somewhat surprised that it came fried (he was expecting grilled). I would say relatively this is a great place but I would love to see more vegetarian and flavoursome options! One of the much better places in the Medina and please don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews of other places, they are not a reflection of reality so I feel somewhat conflicted by marking this place down slightly as fake and exaggerated reviews are rampant in the Medina places. I felt very sad here. When I was looking for a restaurant in front of a store, a tout approached me. I listened to his explanation and said thank you. Then, when I tried to look at the restaurant next door, he said to me, "Thank you, monkey." I'm not Moroccan, but is that wrong? Did I do something bad enough to be called a monkey?
