The waitress on the rooftop is very pushy. We were seated and she came over and in her enthusiasm was pressuring us to make a drink decision after we realised we couldn’t have alcohol. She wouldn’t leave until we made a choice and then started taking us all over the menu without a chance to look it over on our own. Not a great start. After a pressured decision about our drink, she said we should have a specific appetiser after we said we didn’t want anything. My husband said we would look it over to be polite. She then left the menu and indicated that on return she would take our order for an appetiser. My husband gave in and we ordered spring rolls to be polite again. I was so annoyed by her tactics at this point but didn’t want to make a scene as this was supposed to be a special night out. It then came time to order entre which we had already decided and then she suggested that my husband not have his choice of tagine but another Moroccan dish. We did not ask for her opinion but she gave it anyway. She just pushed and pushed and again he went with her decision. When the meal came, it was just beef and not the same volume of food as a tagine which meant my husband didn’t have that much to eat in comparison to me. The manager then came over as he did with other tables and asked if everything was ok. I said that my husband didn’t get much food and they came with some more beef as a result . Needless to say he wasn’t happy as it was just basically beef and rice. It wasn’t a tasty tagine with apricots or currants and almonds. It then came to dessert and I said no but she then started to push the desserts on us saying we would be missing out. My husband then just gave in again and said we’d look at the dinner menu just to make her go away. She told us we made the right decision to look at the menu. When we didn’t order dessert, she told us not to worry which made us both quite annoyed. What do you mean “don’t worry”? We had endless managers come around asking if all was ok, they did this to everyone. We did speak up about the volume of food but with the other issues we just didn’t have the energy. We wanted to enjoy ourselves and the sunset and the atmosphere. She took advantage of us and this didn’t make us feel Good.
My tagine was a 4. The spring rolls were. Three and my husband rated his beef dish a 3.
Overall the atmosphere was good with beautiful lighting. The service was just too pushy and made us feel annoyed . Good service should be invisible. Good service should let you relax. We had neither of those things. Despite the nice atmosphere we will not be recommending this place to anyone. We spent over 500 mad for a not so nice time. Save your money and spend it at a local restaurant where they let...
Read moreTargeted this place before leaving our accommodation as a place to eat once we had looked through the market place, reading through reviews I was excited and ultimately I was thoroughly underwhelmed.
I had a smoked salmon starter which was covered by a lemon jelly and I can understand the intent behind the flavour combination but the execution was poor in my mind. No punch from the citrus and a cold bed of, what can only be described as a coleslaw, provided a contrast of texture but lacked any flavour. My partner had the traditional soup which tasted similar to what you could pour from a can.
I had the steak which was thinner than paper, considering it was the most expensive item on the menu I would've expected something much more substantial and it had been butchered terribly to the point I couldn't even decipher what the cut was among the hanging bits of what I imagined to be neighbouring cuts of the beef. Strange. We also ordered a Caesar salad to share and it was absolutely awful, no dressing, chicken was dry and served with a single slice of white bread which I assume was supposed to be the crouton component. My partner had the risotto which was acceptable in most restaurants that don't specialise in Italian cuisine.
The atmosphere was enjoyable and the terrace had a good view, service was slow and we were greeted with a hostess who tried to offer us a table on the first floor once we said we wanted to go to the terrace. We declined and once we reached the top our table was pointed to and told we could sit "over there". Our starter plates weren't cleared before the main arrived which is inexcusable considering the time taken between courses was at least 40 minutes. No salt or pepper and no napkins on the table.
Altogether we paid 850Dh for 2 people for 2 courses and a drink which is shockingly expensive for the quality. Maybe our visit was one of the few bad ones but I can only merit the...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Le Grand Bazaar on New Year’s Eve to celebrate, and it was a complete disaster. We had booked a table in advance and agreed on a price of 500 MAD per person. However, when we arrived, they claimed they couldn’t find our reservation but still seated us without informing us that we would have to pay more.
The service was appalling – extremely slow, disorganized, and the food wasn’t even good. Some dishes arrived late or were missing entirely. As a vegetarian, I didn’t even receive the same courses as the others, which was very disappointing.
The worst part was when we went to pay. Although the payment for the dinner had not gone through due to an issue with their system (we have proof of this), they insisted we pay the “regular price” of 900 MAD per person, which was double what we had agreed. They even showed us their reservation sheet where it clearly stated that the total for two people was 900 MAD (450 MAD each). Despite this, they insisted we pay 900 MAD each, clearly scamming us.
The staff treated us rudely, kept us at the restaurant for two hours, and even scared us by threatening to involve the police. We ultimately felt forced to pay their inflated price just to leave the unpleasant situation.
This was a deeply upsetting and stressful experience, and I would strongly advise all tourists to avoid this restaurant. They are dishonest and exploit...
