We ended up here to eat today, and the experience was 1*
We sat down, and maybe 10 minutes later the waiter, who turns out to be the owner of the restaurant, came to take our drink order. An other 10 minutes later he came back to take the food order and we received our drinks.
We ordered harira soup, fattoush salad, couscous "real" and falafel. We have waited maybe an other 20 minutes when the soup, the salad and the couscous arrived.
We have began to eat, but couldn't touch the soup still as there was no spoon on the table. There was three guys working on the floor, but they were all over the place, we couldn't ask for a spoon. Then when we managed to ask for it, they gave us a spoon that was dirty. The soup was very nice but it was a tiny portion though. The fattoush was not fattoush, it was more like a garden salad, with a spoonful of couscous. There was no mint, no olive oil, no lemon juice and no bread pieces in it.
10 minutes after receiving the food, the same guy who took our order came and told us, that the falafel will be an other 30 minutes. Since I am vegetarian, there was no other option but the falafel or some couscous with vegetables, but didn't want to change the order, so told him that we will wait.
Almost 30 minutes passed by, and there were no news about the falafel, so we asked an other waiter about it, and laughingly, he said; "Oh, we do not have falafel today"
He asked me who took our order and went to talk to him. Then we got told that they have no falafel today but they are making it in the kitchen, it will take some time still. So we cancelled the order at this point because we didn't want to wait anymore.
We asked for the bill, we paid and waited for the change (they took of my mint tea from the bill at least). 10-15 minutes passed by, and we still didn't receive our change, so we went to the cashier, and the guy didn't even know what we were talking about. He went to look for the owner of the restaurant, who went out of the place. We got told that he is looking for change. He then came back 5 minutes later and gave us the change with an attitude, as he was expecting that we leave him 5 euros for the service they provided us.
Well, I am sorry but the only thing I will be leaving today, is a review of 1*
Very disappointed on our last day spent...
Read moreBrilliant food but let down by poor service.
So firstly the food here was probably the best I've had while in morocco, the chicken pastilla was amazing and so were the fries. The only thing stopping this being 5 stars is the service. We got seated and our order taken. Waiter was very friendly and asked about where we were from and where we had been ect, very nice. We ordered starters and mains. Me and my girlfriend both ordered that pastilla. For some reason one pastilla got served with the starters which is a little weird anyway, after we finished our started the second pastilla still hasn't arrived but we were assured it was coming. We awkwardly picked at the first pastilla as it was going cold, eventually the second pastilla arrived. I had also ordered a side of fries as I find the pastillas to be sweet so I like to balance them with the fries to stop the flavour getting too much. The fries didn't arrive until until we had both finished our pastilla which sort of defeated the point although the pastilla was very nice and not too sweet like some others I had had so I didnt really need them anyway, but still disappointing. We ordered crepes for dessert, after a few minutes the waiter came back out and told us no crepes, a little disappointing. The waiter was very apologetic about the delays with the food and without prompting your complaining from us took the fries off our bill as a gesture of apology. Despite the service I would still wholly recommend this place and would go back because the food was so nice and the prices are so good, the chicken pastilla is around 4-5 euros! I assume the service is not usually like that and we just got unlucky and the food and friendliness of the staff made up for it but I cannot give it 5 stars simply due to the food being messed around, but if you're in Marrakech this is definitely a spot to go. They also do pizzas of you're missing a bit of home food although I don't know how...
