I’ve been a regular here for a number of visits and have always enjoyed the ambiance at KABANA, it was even one of my favorite spots in the city. However, my most recent experience was extremely disappointing. When I attempted to enter, I was stopped at the door by the security guards and asked about a reservation, while several foreigners were allowed in without any inquiry. This felt very discriminatory and disgusting. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ or my other Moroccan friends have encountered such behavior here. It’s disheartening to see a place that doesn’t value local patrons and treats them unfairly, yet puts the priority on foreign customers. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works towards a more inclusive and respectful environment or changes the uneducated rude security guards. Either way, I unfortunately will not be coming back.
UPDATE:
I’m awfully disgusted and disappointed to share that my recent experience today with Kabana was even worse than the previous one. When I arrived with a foreign friend who insisted that we go in, we were initially welcomed by one guard who didn’t ask us about a reservation but rather asked us how many of us are there. However, the same rude security guard from my previous visit recognized me and immediately denied us entry. He explicitly mentioned my previous review and told his colleague to turn us away because of the review specifically. If this is not discrimination then I don’t know what is. This kind of treatment is not only deeply disrespectful and disgusting but also completely unacceptable and illegal. It’s disheartening to see that Kabana not only disregards customer feedback but also retaliates against it. This experience has made me lose all trust and interest in this place, and I would not wish this treatment...
Read moreWorst experience of my life. Around a week ago, for my birthday dinner I decided to go to kabana alone to eat and celebrate all by myself. As I arrived there at approximately 00:30, I was mistreated by two of their security guards; they obliged me to remove my sunglasses, my hoodie and also searched my bag in the middle of the street with people staring, which was very embarrassing, they didn’t even ask nicely they were very rude and disrespectful due to the way I was dressed which was none of their business. After that he told me that the whole place is reserved and there is no table left for me, while he is talking to me, a lot of people entered and got in kabana without being checked or stopped or anything.
After a long conversation he finally let me in and as i was walking the stairs he rushed into me again, and told me that the cuisine is closed which was a big lie since they dont close until 2am. I ignored him and kept on going up stairs. I rushed to the bathroom cause I was shaking from the whole situation and the way I got treated, I calmed myself for 15min before getting out and trying to find a table for myself. I went to a waiter to ask him if there is any seat left, he checked me up and down and started laughing in front of my face, then ignored me, I immediately left crying, got a taxi and went back to my hotel, and till this day I still feel traumatized by what happened. I’ve never felt this mistreated in my life, the staff is cold, disrespectful, non professional and very insulting, I don’t recommend this place to ANYONE. Especially if you are...
Read moreThe venue is beautiful. We really enjoyed the chandeliers as the sky got dark. The music was nice - although we went on a weekday so we wouldn’t say it was a “music vibe” that day.
The issues come in with the food and service. We ordered 2 starters to share and 1 steak as a main.
To drink, we got a natural orange juice which was nice and the portion size was generous.
We also got a piña colada, which was quite strong so props to them there as most places skimp on liquor.
The starters were OK, bonus points for coming out quick however this was suspiciously quick for what it was (3-5min) and we questioned whether the food had been made fresh after we received stale bread as hard as a rock.
It was exchanged for new bread but by then we had finished our starters.
The server got the drink wrong, which happens however two of the team then came to us claiming we had requested something different.
One of the servers had previously been closed off and unhelpful when asking for cocktail reccos.
When the steak came out, requested medium-rare (which is meant to be the point between medium and rare) we instead got a steak with some completely raw pieces and some completely medium pieces.
Also, just to mention the rooftop is in an area that doesn’t feel very safe.
We didn’t find the experience acceptable for a bill coming out to €90.
In hindsight, for a similar investment we could’ve enjoyed ourselves more somewhere like the Nobu...
