My husband and I had a late dinner at Melipol on November 27th. We were really looking forward to some delicious Italian food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed for the most part. The tricolore salad was good and the pesto was delicious. However, something in the tomato sauce was off and it did not taste good. We did raise this with our waiter and he brought it to the attention of the owner. She said the sauce had been made that morning and therefore was not old. I explained that maybe it was one of the ingredients which was not good but I was told that maybe it’s because they use a lot of garlic or I’m not used to their olive oil. I love garlic and olive oil and have eaten a lot of pasta with tomato sauce in Italy and in various countries around the world. I’ve never had one that tasted off like this. I raised it more out of concern than anything else in case there is some kind of contamination with one of their ingredients. We also had the tiramisu and it was mediocre and not fresh. The veal was just ok as well. We really wanted to enjoy our dinner more as we love Italian food but unfortunately this was not the case. Having said that, the waiter was very kind and respectful. This Italian place in the heart of Marrakech was amazing. Pure Italian food. We ordered the tomato burschetta which was beyond exceptional. The margarita pizza was very tasty, stone baked. We ordered the tagliatelle with chicken. This was cooked to perfection. The deco was amazing as this is a new place all the deco was warm inviting and very aesthetically pleasing.
