Disappointed with the Manager’s Attitude
I've been a loyal customer of 1905 and have hosted 2–3 events here in the past, but my recent experience left me truly disappointed — not because of the venue, but due to the way the Manager, Nirajan, handled things.
I had booked the White Glass space for a birthday celebration for 17 guests. Despite the space not being fully occupied, he made a remark that “whole space was not supposed to be allotted to you” — as if he was doing us a favor. If the venue had been packed and unable to accommodate, I’d understand, but that wasn’t the case at all.
To make matters worse, when I mentioned my past events at 1905, he asked for “proof” in order to consider any further discounts. Managers may change, but customers come back because of the brand and the experience — not the person temporarily managing it.

However, on the day of the event, his behavior was completely different. He was again reluctant about the discount and even mentioned that decorations aren’t usually allowed — which came as a surprise.
Our final bill crossed NPR 60,000, yet the experience felt unwelcoming. Most restaurants of this standard offer at least 10–15% discounts for events without such resistance. I wouldn’t recommend planning any celebration here as the attitude doesn't match the...

The food and drinks are only a little bit above average (I doubt you would ever complain about a meal here) but definitely not worth the high prices (relative to Kathmandu) they charge you for it. Service is a bit slow.
I would definitely visit this place but go here if you only need a snack, a couple of drinks and a little time to spend journaling before you move on to exploring more of Kathmandu.
They have an interesting wine list but it...
