I love the drinks at Java. However, the food is a huge miss for me.

For the price of Rs. 745, the non-veg carbonara was shy of the amount of meat. The meat was more like a garnish rather than a crucial part of the dish. As is obvious, the portion size of the whole dish felt extremely stingy. Even if the portion sizes are small, the ingredients could have been placed more generously given the steep price charged. The cheesecakes I tried were very underwhelming. I think the team might need to tweak their recipe some more. I am a fan of basque burnt cheesecakes in general but just looking at Himalayan Java’s basque cheesecake was disappointing. I didn’t even feel like ordering it. With a brand that has earned such a high reputation, it’s just expected that you’ll be getting your money’s worth.

Himalayan Java can be considered as one of the pioneers in coffee culture in Nepal. Recently they've been experimenting with various ways to serve coffee. Even though there are no choices with the intensity of roast they serve coffee in a very pleasant atmosphere and have a well trained barista and servers. They have adequate food items in the menu for breakfast or a small meal. Quite expensive compared to other mushrooming coffee shops, but it's a Must visit if you're new...
