Annavilaas — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We reserved a table for 19:45 and got placed promptly. That was the only positive of the evening. The order was taken at 20:05 and we waited for the food to arrive for the next 45 minutes. Finally, one of the attendants came up to check if we received at least one of the number of dishes we ordered. When she saw the table was empty, she apologized and did not return till 21:00. In the meanwhile, I checked if the restaurant served tap water or should bottled water be ordered. Tap water was the reply but even after 3 attempts, nobody bothered to serve water. This is probably the only restaurant which takes an hour to serve idlies. The restaurant thermostat was set to at least 90 degrees F!! Grossly understaffed for the evening. Extremely Slow (or rather lack of) service killed the family dinner morale. We cancelled few of our other orders and walked out for the nightmare to end. 2 stars only for the food. Negative stars for the service and the lack of basic courtesy to explain the reasons for delay. A restaurant boasting fine dining cannot afford to have such basic slip ups!

Waiting time more than 70 minutes! I & my partner visited this restaurant from Zwolle on recommendation of a friend (2 hour drive). We arrived at the restaurant at 2 pm sharp and waited for someone to provide us a menu. We got the menu at 2:15 pm and immediately ordered our food as we were hungry! Now comes the burnout! We patiently waited for the food till 2:50 pm and then one of the starter item was served to us. I asked the person serving us the food of possible cause of delay to which he replied - we have a delay and please give us few minutes. We again waited and no food was served to us till 3:15 pm. This was our threshold - we decided to leave the restaurant and paid for the order. The waiter has no problem letting us go and was even contented that we cancelled the order. Fortunately, the manager did arrived and said sorry! But we already decided to leave by then. We never had a bad experience at any restaurants in the Netherlands in last 3 years! The point about no communication of delay was too much even when we saw the restaurant was only 50% fill. I will never recommended this restaurant if you going for early bie unless if you have all the time...
