Let me start off by saying that the food itself was great. We ordered a very aromatic and savory celery root soup, which came with warm bread and delicious airy butter. The croquettes were very crusty on the outside and creamy and delicious on the inside. My girlfriend had scored a grill3d cheese sandwich woth tomatoes, filling and hot. The salmon sandwich with capers was tender and with a spritz of lemon , it has really added a nice refreshing kick. My biggest issue, hence the score, was the terribly poor and slow service. It should not take almost an hour to shove a piece of bread with cheese into a grill. The waiter did not take our order for 20 minutes and we had to wave him down. There was only one chef who was also delivering the plates. The process under which they operate is not set up efficiently. My recommendation, go to a different place unless you're in no tish and have plenty of time to spare.

Been going here for 10 years, and always had good time good service, good coffee and beer selection. My favorite has been for years the goatcheese sandwich, its just soo much goatcheese :) all food is pretty good and nice portions! Service has always been friendly and tipical Amsterdam. Honest prices for being right in the tourist center of the city! Foto is of 1/2 hummus and grilled veg and 1/2 goatxheese sandwiches i split w a friend! Delicious!!

Me and my mom had a delicious breakfast here. We got their cheese sandwich and ham & bacon sandwich. The portions were a lot bigger than we expected which was a nice surprise. It came with a lot of fresh vegetables too. The service was a bit slow but they had just opened up and it seemed there was only one server and one cook, so we were understanding of that.

Café Stevens: A Quaint Corner of Amsterdam's Culinary Landscape

Nestled in the bustling heart of Amsterdam on Geldersekade 123, Café Stevens is a beloved fixture for both locals and travelers seeking a serene spot to unwind. With a welcoming blend of comfortable furnishings, warm service, and a menu that caters to any time of the day, this café has earned its reputation as a go-to destination.

Ambiance: Café Stevens greets its guests with an ambiance that is both charming and unpretentiously chic. The interior, with its cozy seating arrangement, encourages diners to settle in and soak up a homely atmosphere that is especially inviting during Amsterdam's colder months. On sunnier days, the outdoor seating offers a perfect vantage point for people-watching and enjoying the scenic canal-side views.

Cuisine: From Dawn to Dusk: Open from 10:00 to 20:00 hours, Café Stevens serves a versatile array of culinary delights, ensuring that whether you're in for morning coffee or an evening borrel, your palate will be pleased. Breakfast options start the day off right, while the lunch and dinner menus feature an array of dishes that showcase the simplicity and heartiness of European cuisine.

Crafted Coffees and Delightful Bites: Coffee enthusiasts will find their caffeine fix expertly crafted at Café Stevens, with a range of traditional and specialty brews. Paired with a selection of pastries and sweet treats, each coffee break turns into a mini retreat.

For those stopping by later in the day, the café's borrel (Dutch for drinks with snacks) menu offers a convivial way to end the day, with a selection of wines, beers, and light bites ideal for sharing.

Service: Heartwarming and Efficient: One of Café Stevens' standout features is its warm and attentive service. Staff members are enthusiastic about their offerings and are more than willing to accommodate guests without prior reservations. Their local insights and friendly demeanor contribute significantly to the establishment's pleasant and welcoming feel.

Accessibility and Communication: The café's relaxed reservation policy is a breath of fresh air in a city where dining spots can often be overbooked. Workers swiftly entertain walk-ins, adding to the casual and flexible nature of the café. Should you have any questions or special requests, the open lines of communication via phone or email are promptly and warmly attended to, ensuring that your needs are met with the utmost care.

Conclusion: Café Stevens stands as a testament to Amsterdam's love affair with café culture, blending quality food and drink with an inviting atmosphere that feels both traditional and contemporary. It's a place that equally honors the city's rich history and its vibrant present. A visit to Café Stevens, be it for a steaming cup of coffee in the morning or a leisurely evening borrel, is a stop worth savoring in the heart of Amsterdam.

Standing outside and a lady goes in and says "great kitchen". We try it. It's a cool cloudy lunchtime and quiet outside. Lovely service, drank the beer that was recommended (beautifully balanced wheaty local beer). Delicious. I had a burger which was tasty and properly meaty, not overcooked and she had a goats cheese salad. Salad was big and full of flavour and bits and bobs including line nuts. The fries were proper potatoes and crunchy, tasty and served with good mayo. A rowdy group turned up drinking and doing some of Amsterdam's curiosities. Not sure what happend but the same lady comes out, has a quiet word and they have to leave. No drama, and to be fair whatever they had done they also accepted the verdict. It's not a great kitchen, it's a really great kitchen. A very well-run and lovely place. Delicious beer, no drama but all of life goes by and the food is fab. I never really write reviews, but so welcomed, so kind and now happily replete, seemed...

Today, we had a terrible experience at this place. We were 2 moms with 3 toddlers, (age 6, 4 and 3). We sit down and order 3 toasties, 2 cheese and 1 ham cheese. The first 2 toasts come, the little girls start to eat. We were missing the third toast. Then the waiter, guy with green shirt, brings other 2 toasts cheese (not the ham cheese that was missing). We tell him it's wrong and he loses his mind. Takes away these 2 new toasts, in such a rush that one of the half falls on our table. Goes to check the order and says he wrote it down and we are wrong. Screams agitated in front of all the customers. We tell him he might be wrong. He gets angrier and takes away the toasts from the girls that were already eating. Tells us to leave. I got very angry at him at that point. He took away the food from kids while were eating... Who does that?! That has never happened before in my life. I always go to the cafe on the dinner shift but will...
