Read moreStanding outside and a lady goes in and says "great kitchen". We try it. It's a cool cloudy lunchtime and quiet outside. Lovely service, drank the beer that was recommended (beautifully balanced wheaty local beer). Delicious. I had a burger which was tasty and properly meaty, not overcooked and she had a goats cheese salad. Salad was big and full of flavour and bits and bobs including line nuts. The fries were proper potatoes and crunchy, tasty and served with good mayo. A rowdy group turned up drinking and doing some of Amsterdam's curiosities. Not sure what happend but the same lady comes out, has a quiet word and they have to leave. No drama, and to be fair whatever they had done they also accepted the verdict. It's not a great kitchen, it's a really great kitchen. A very well-run and lovely place. Delicious beer, no drama but all of life goes by and the food is fab. I never really write reviews, but so welcomed, so kind and now happily replete, seemed...
Read moreToday, we had a terrible experience at this place. We were 2 moms with 3 toddlers, (age 6, 4 and 3). We sit down and order 3 toasties, 2 cheese and 1 ham cheese. The first 2 toasts come, the little girls start to eat. We were missing the third toast. Then the waiter, guy with green shirt, brings other 2 toasts cheese (not the ham cheese that was missing). We tell him it's wrong and he loses his mind. Takes away these 2 new toasts, in such a rush that one of the half falls on our table. Goes to check the order and says he wrote it down and we are wrong. Screams agitated in front of all the customers. We tell him he might be wrong. He gets angrier and takes away the toasts from the girls that were already eating. Tells us to leave. I got very angry at him at that point. He took away the food from kids while were eating... Who does that?! That has never happened before in my life. I always go to the cafe on the dinner shift but will...
