I was there tonight with my wife, for our anniversary. We have been eating vegan for a month and decide to splurge in this “nice restaurant with great food and awesome customer service. Results: Food & wine during dinner was good, however: we booked for 9:00pm and sat down at 9:30pm after we had to chase the staff despite us ordering 4 courses, after a mistake made by the staff, the staff tried to push us to have a 5th course. We rejected, saying we’d like to order some coffee and limoncello. A guy with glasses came up to our table claiming the order for the 5th course was made and the kitchen was already preparing the food. When we rejected , he was so rude and made us feel like we were forced to have the additional course, despite ultimately we hadn’t ordered it. -from this moment, 20 mins of time of total indifference, during which waiters were walking across tables but nobody came to serve us or ask if we wanted anything else. -Finally we attracted the attention of a waiter and asked the bill, flagging the rude behaviour of the guy with glasses. “That is the owner”, he said. I then asked to have a chat with him and explained that despite the decent food, his behaviour and attitude was rude and not up to the standard of a 180 euro meal for 2 people. He left saying “I will bring this in for discussion with the team”, no apology, no offering of a coffee to apologise or anything similar. Unfortunately for the owner, the team was exemplary great and helpful until he stepped in with his rude and entitled behaviour , blaming us for a mistake they did. -The two stars are for the wine, very good, and the young, hard-working staff. The three missing stars are all on the shoulders of the entitled, rude and, apparently, not very smart...
Read moreOkay I admit that due to covid and getting fine food delivered at home it is probably not the same experience than at the restaurant and we did consider this. However for the price and the good reviews I do expect at least average... I ordered 2 times menu one vegetarian (vol au vent artisjok) one meat (perlhoen en boudin blanc). Starter was a cold asparagus soup with different elements. This was okay but really sour, vinegary for me. The main... the perlhoen was undercooked it was stil quite red on the bone (an yes I know that it is maybe less white than chicken but still) the taste was okay but we did not dare eat it... the puff pastry and artisjok was over salted and everything was topped off with truffle, as if one wanted to cover the taste. The boudin blanc was the best unfortunately you only received like a little quarter of one... ??? The dessert was quite sweet, the coulis/filling was good, however for a bokkenpot I expect the chocolate to be tempered which it was absolutely not and with all the white chocolate it was really to sweet... Also the dip was not liquid anymore. I did put the dessert in the fridge so maybe that was not the goal, but then it would be nice to have a note with it saying that you should not put it in the fridge! All in all this was a sour, salty sweet experience for my partners bday we were really disappointed and can absolutely not...
Read moreFirst off, I will say the staff was nice and accommodating. Outside of that, there is not a whole lot of positive things to say about this restaurant.
Firstly, our meal took three and a half hours. Each course took about 45 minutes to prepare and was only about three bites each. Small portions are fine, but when each dish is just vegetables covered in a green foam/broth, that does not constitute fine dining.
We booked this restaurant because it advertises itself as specializing in wild game and fish, which we love. The only meat dish of the night was a tiny piece of toast with mushroom and lamb on it covered in aforementioned green foam. The lamb was probably only two bites less than the size of my thumb.
The fish dish was absolutely horrid and we could not even finish it. It was way too creamy and the combination of monkfish and foie gras/pate was inedible.
Do not listen to Condé Nast, Michelin Guide, etc. This restaurant is a waste of time (especially considering it took nearly four hours) and a waste of money considering how expensive and unsatisfying it is.
The servers, wine, and bread were BY FAR the best parts...
